Universal Health Care (IN AMERICA) only works on paper really. Everywhere else it's just fine and dandy.
I think that everyone should be entitled to universal health care. But I'm sure you have valid reasons. After all, you know more about your own country better than me.
My opinion on politics, part 3: Another problem with the general public is the fact that people do not "involve" themselves in politics. While on the surface, the fancy words and intimidating statistics seem to fly off your T.V. screen, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to at least acknowledge what is going on in the political world. You do not need to go knee deep into politics, but rather gather general knowledge regarding what is going on. I can say I know about a good sum on information on the Civil War, but that does not make me a fanatic about it. Through some general research, conversations with people much older than me (I am merely a teenager), and just plain ol' common sense, I come to a conclusion as to where we are heading. It would appear to seem there is something that is being hidden from the general public. I will explain what I mean by representing an example: George Bush and the 9/11 Comission. Now, the Comission is supposed to be an OFFICIAL report declaring all the events and evidence behind the terrible terrorist attack. You would figure that it would be unbiased, and would of course, have been checked over and everything. Now, Bush created his own rules when meeting up for the conference that would piece together this report: -Him and Vice President **** Cheney were to arrive TOGETHER, something that was completley against the rules. -Anything written in the comission had to be reviewed by the two men, only. -People were not allowed to write down or document anything during this conference. Now, this seems a little fishy, don't you think? Well, allow me to cite a few more examples of things hidden from the public: -The big Occupy Wall Street Protest on May 1st 2012 were documented to have tens of thousands of protesters. Marshal law was enforced, and plently of police brutality was documented LIVE online. Yet we have not seen such shocking footage on the news. -The so called "belief" of a plane crashing into the Pentagon, the same day on 9/11, had well over 50 tapes recording the event. However, these were made top secret by the FBI. -Violence in Afganistan and Pakistan continue to happen everyday. Over 80% of those killed are women and children. Now, call me crazy, but just what the hell is going on here? Do not take these examples based on the fact that we might have a "conspiracy", but rather, to open your eyes and see how uninformed and uneducated we really are. The truth is, some group of men somewhere are hiding something major from us. Why they are hiding it, who knows? What they are hiding, have no clue. But for anyone here is American here, you have the right to educate yourself and be informed. Don't let anything dictate you, or steer you somewhere. But also, don't go mad to the point that you have no more belief in anything anymore. Rather, just acknowledge the fact that things are not the way they are, so that you do not get sucked into madness like everyone else. ________________ I conclude my statement by suggesting that if you ever want to defend yourself in the future, knowledge is your best weapon. For nearly 2,000 years, humans have been letting men of higher power govern and dictate their life, and telling them how to live. The problem is, men of higher power are still doing this today. Sure, we have nations founded on freedom and rights for the people, but in the end, a small group of people create laws to steer your life, enforce those laws, and anyone who tries to figure out their scheme or hints at the notion of corruption is seen as an enemy. You cannot control any of these things. But what you can control is your frame your mind, and perception of how you see things. Those enough is all you need. Acknowledgement leads to understanding. Understanding leads to critical thinking. And enough Critical Thinking can cause a huge uproar. ____________________ And as usual, feel free to bash any part of my post. After all, I am citing my opinion, and nothing more.
I dunno, it just seems kinda fishy to me. Lots of people (especially conservatives) over here think that it's just one step closer to Socialism, and you know how scared of Socialism Americans are.
It's a simple matter of paying for Obamacare. The money just isn't there. Cutting costs (deciding who gets treated and who just gets a band aid) and denying services and of course, increasing taxes are the only ways to pay for it. The supreme court declared it a tax and there are many taxes wrapped up in Obamacare that won't go fully into effect until 2014.
I am Republican in the way of taxes, at least. Smaller Government, less taxes would seem a lot easier to me. :/
Unfortunately, our national debt is so insanely high we'd need higher taxes and MAJOR spending cuts to even dream of putting the tiniest dent in it. I myself am independent, but I find myself siding with the Democrats on most things.
Honestly I think that yes, we need what you just said. But the Republicans want low taxes, and the Democrats want high spending. They each have one thing right and one thing wrong. And the biggest problem is that noone is willing to go with a politician who says "We're going to raise taxes, but not give you anything in return, since the money will be going towards paying the national debt!" Noone is going to vote for them, because they aren't willing to make a sacricfice. They want the government to somehow take care of the debt without diminishing benefits to themselves and without increasing their own expenditures. So I really doubt that we will ever get rid of our debt. You can change a leader easily, but society is not as easy to change.
And so we cement the road to our own ruin. Rather depressing, really. All the countries we owe money to have to do is default on us and we're as good as done. But I may be thinking too simply.
Well, I don't think they'll do that anytime soon. But eventually we'll borrow too much. So eventually, yes. It's not a happy thought, which is probably why all the politicians doing all the borrowing haven't brought it up yet. >.> No one wants to think about it, so they just continue on their merry way.
Tyro could barely beleve his ears as he heald his breath to listen. "What the..." He trails off as he tries to figure out what that noise was. "Only cattle on it's way to the butchers should be doing that...Still, this is a mental hospital. That might be normal."
