Man does some of those things. It isn't always God. I think it's more accurate to say that God allows us our free will, but will step in to keep us alive if He want's us alive. Other than that I think he just already knows what will happen and just tweaks events here and there to nudge us in the right direction. We don't have to do anything we don't want though. God however, is the master of the contingency plan.
He allows us free will by tweaking events. Is that even free will then and if he tweak events, why do people kill others? Is he tweaking anything then if he allows it. Wy would he allow murder if he has control of things. Can he not control that? If murder would one day just up and stop for no real reason, then I'll believe in a god. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
He gives us the freedom to choose which path we want to take. If we want to separate ourselves from God and not go to church (Like I do) he can't force you. If you've read Stephen King's 'Desperation', the Free Will Covenant explains it quite nicely. God cannot force you to do things, nor can he force things to happen. It is by your own choices and the choices of other people that God reflects these actions and creates these consequences. I'm by no means a die-hard christian. God is stupid sometimes. But that's just life. There is a difference between Life and God. Life is the stereotypical tragedy that happens every now and then; what happens after is God.
What did he just say?God doesnt interfere in the events of the world as often as he used too. MAN and NATURE (Which is wild. And not fully under gods control)causes all those problems.God only tweaks certain events. And its a rare occurrence. He lets it it happen...not really sure why...I guess because we have free will. And he lets us do our own things...while not approving of some things...he doesnt openly try to stop them. You seem to be under the impression that god controls everything. He lets events go randomly. Like i said earlier..it feels like trying to explain quantum physics to a dead cat.
If he doesn't interfere anymore why follow him. Why does he pick and chose what he does? Why did he stop, does he not want me to believe in him? Why does he pick and chose events to mess with? If he lets events happen randomly why believe in him, he's like a kid with a magnify glass. You seem to thing that you have freewill under a god the controls events when he gets bored. How is that freewill. Why does he stand by and do nothing for homeless families? Shouldn't that be something he wants to fix. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
See?Im getting nowhere. He does help in some ways. But you have to believe.Which is a choice. Maybe if you actually read the Bible,You might understand.
Help how? In order to get his help I need to believe, that's not really fair. I thought he loved all no matter what. If he has a hand in all event, like halfhand said. Then how is that freewill. I still forced to act under his event. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
Yup...dead cat..quantum physics.... He does love all people. But you have to believe in him to get assistance....or seriously need help.(Like help with a terminal illness,a disaster ETC.) Im done with this. You're like a brick. As i said..Actually READ the bible instead of making up things.
Like a terminal illness. You mean like cancer. TJ's father dies of cancer, TJ prayed, yet he father is now dead. What help he was. I won't read the bible. It'd be a waste of my time. It's good you're done, seeing as you wont see my side either. It's like you have one of those puzzles with a square hole. You pick up the triangle and try to force it. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
Hey look this devolved into insults....not petty but still. If you did read it you would see my point.I did see your side i just didnt agree with it. Please lock this...im sick of looking at this..and it makes me want to kill something.
You started it, you compared me to a dead cat. Why lock it? It's the one real topic on this site. I have no problem with your religion. Just some many people view it different. Some say god does everything, some say he does little, some say he does nothing. It's not my fault I don't understand it. It's a mess. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
Ah..i thought you were trying to say something else.Sorry. I dont understand it either. But some questions can be answered with the words"God works in mysterious ways.".Not much to go on.But it works.Considering he knows everything. Besides...some Christians are....fanatics.THOSE you shouldnt listen to. And its back to a civil level...
It never left civil, heated maybe...but still civil I guess. If he works in mysterious ways and knows everything why does he not step in to do anything? That's whay I'm asking. Will I get an answer, no. It's impossible to get one, but I can get peoples views on it. I don't listen to people like the WBC, they just make me laugh. -- Sent from my Palm Pre using Forums
No one is entirely sure. But God has reasons we dont know about. The end result of the argument is."We both have no idea."
If you guys want a little light on the subject, I may have a bit to add into this particular topic myself.
Why lock it? If you don't like the thread, don't click on it. There's no reason the rest of us should be deprived of it. I think my biggest problem with most Gods I've read about is how disturbingly similar they are to humans. Now, I have to ask myself, which is more likely: that the creator of all things is subject to such petty, biologically-rooted emotions as wrath, sorrow, jealousy, etc. or that humans, in their conceited egoism, would deify themselves, warts and all, and believe that the entire universe somehow revolved around them? I can't help wondering if some rabbit-like creature ended up evolving a similar level of intelligence as ours if their God wouldn't have long ears and a fluffy tail.
