"Can you take me to him?" asked Ana, lifting her head from her hands. She ignored the crack on the old wooden floor as she walked over to Daniel.
"Sure." He says, blinking. "That's odd... I am not able to find the coordinates of his lab." He says.
Daniel shrugs. "I do not know... I just know that I was instructed to protect you and your mother, no matter what."
Daniel points at the computer screen, which now displayed photos of masked men, very heavily armed. "They were after his research... And, me. A robot that looks and talks like a human could be very valuable."
"So.. he sent you to us so we'd be protected? Doesn't that seem counter intuitive to you?" she asked, pacing the room. She paused in the pacing and looked up. "Which is another question. Do you have feelings? Do you have a free will?"
"I am programmed to act like a normal human would, and to learn on my own how to act and express feelings correctly." Daniel says. "As for free will, I can do mostly what I want, I can disobey orders if they don't seem like the best option, or would hurt an innocent."
"I see." said Ana. "That's good." She sighed, and pushed her hair off her forehead. "So, I assume that you need to eat, drink and sleep? Like a regular human?"
"No, just need to recharge every night." Daniel says. "Basically sleeping.... And from the vague memories of when my battery is lower than 10%... It's weird..." (.... I might be referencing a certain inflatable robot)
(I HAVE NOT SEEN THAT MOVIE YET, YOU MAY NOT SPOIL IT.) "Alright. Well, my mother should be home from work soon. I'll have to explain this to her." she said, rubbing one of her temples. "In the meantime, can you tell me what you remember?"
(If you saw the trailer, you'll know basically what he acts like. Also, I don't spoil things.... (Stay til after the credits btw)) "From the times when I had a low battery, or of your father?" Daniel asks.
"Well... The best I can describe me having a low battery is when a human is drunk. And what memories would you like me to tell you about? His personality, what the lab looked like...?"
Ana smiled a little bit, and sat down. She looked down at her folded hands. Her knuckles were red from the cold, but she squeezed them together until they were white. "Well, I don't really know. I mean, I've never met the man. Is he kind? Responsible? What led him to walk away from my mother and I?"
Daniel bites his lip, thinking. "Well... Will this help?" He asks, making a video appear on the computer screen. In the freeze frame, a bunch of machine parts could be seen, as well as a few half manufactured prosthetic limbs.
