Star cast a simple spell, not requiring for her to take off the amulet, that cooled down the mug and reshaped it into it's original form. "You got it about a centimeter off the table. So you can definitely levitate it, even if it's a small distance. Now, this may sound like a strange question, but when you were lifting the mug, what were you thinking?"
"hm... I think I got the cutie mark when I burned down my parents' house. now why did I do that......."
"anyway, I burned down our house- wait, now I remember why! my father had been getting drunk the previous few nights, and I was fed up with him, so I burned down the house. I don't think anyone was able to put those ones out until several minutes after the building had been reduced to ash"
"That'd be it. Now, you see, sometimes repressed emotions can hinder or restrain an individual's magic. In your case, it likely happened when you burned down your parents house. The fact that you got your mark that way doesn't make it any better either."
"I guess so, although the fire was a problem before that. I think it just got worse when I did that" he said, shrugging, then paused. "a lot worse" he admitted after a moment
he shrugged. "I'm still just as magically talented as I ever was. the fire has just gotten.... much harder to control" he said stubbornly. "anyway, I'm hungry. got anything?"
"I have some oat flakes, but they're in a box you'd have to reach with magic." Star said, with a grin. "Let's have one more try at this. But first, let me try something on you." She briefly took off her necklace, and her horn glowed a dark purple, a different colour from her normal cyan magic. An overwhelming wave of tranquility and calmness washed over Solon, as if Star's magic was covering him in a blanket of peace. She quickly put her necklace back on. "Okay then, don't ask question about what I just did. Just focus on the mug, try and lift it."
he frowned, then shrugged and did so. this time, he was able to lift the cup without it melting, though it did begin to give off a faint yellow glow
Star leaped in excitement. "You did it! It seems the source of the problem was your emotions! However, I can feel the heat radiating off the cup. So we're not in the clear yet. But for now, relax a moment. I'll go get those oat flakes."
Star came down the stairs with a bowl of cereal and placed it on the table. "So, what I did was work a little of my specialty: Emotion manipulation. I personally don't like to use it unless it can diffuse a situation, but in this case it was helpful. But I can't help you with that forever, we need to find a natural remedy."
he frowned as the spell wore off. "yeah, but I don't know how we'll do that. I'm relatively calm right now, but even if we get this all sorted out, I'll relapse whenever I get pissed off"
