(Alright guys, I will be throwing in a five post limit effective tommorow, okay?) Snow looked at their group, "Hm, maybe we should start be doing something that either has to do with our breed, like learning to fly or do magic, or try something that has to do with our names, because there is a lot of ponies that I've seen that have talents similar to their names!" she said, trying to think of something.
Jhera glared at Snow. Nopony knew of his flower patch, and he wasn't planning on telling any of them about it for fear they would see him a total sissy. He attempted to make himself as non-filly'ly as possible. "Well, Earth Ponies are strong...and we can grow stuff...but that's about it." he said plainly. "I'm pretty weak, as you can see. I also can't grow worth a bit. I suppose for the moment I could help you guys find your talents though!" He looked towards the grounded pegasus. "You should come with us! I can see that you're a blank-flank too. C'mon! It'll be fun!"
"You Ponies are trying to get your Cutie Marks too?" He looked down, upset. "I got kicked out of Royal Guard Cadets for not bieng able to fly and for not having a Cutie Mark..." He looked at the group. "Could I join you in getting yours?"
"Of course!" said Silver, though his mind was on what Snow had said. Did their cutie marks really have something to do with their names? ...Well, he still couldn't imagine what his special talent would be, then. 'Silver Shield'? He supposed it made for a good cutie mark, but how was he supposed to guess what that meant? Maybe it wasn't related to his name...maybe it had something to do with magic! I already know how to use magic, so... hmm... He drifted deeper into thought.
Snow sat down and tryed to think what her special talent, if it was related to her name, would be. Well it would probably have something to do with magic, she thought, Maybe I'm supposed to be a markspony? No, what in Equestria could go with Mark! Snow thought
The Wind family got off the train. Mother and Father were very happy and excited, while Ember was sad and Fire was angry. "Kids," their father began, "we're going to go get the house ready, why don't you go meet some new friends?" Firebreeze growled as he walked off, while Ember went to help her parents, rather than deal with an angry Firebreeze.
"So Snow," Jhera said to her while everypony was distracted trying to find a possible cutie mark match. "I noticed you have an interesting accent, where are you from? I don't think I've heard anything quite like it while in Fillydelphia. Is that how the people in Canterlot speak?" She instantly turned red and looked down. 'Oops,' he thought. 'I might have just entered a touchy subject.' He tried to fix his mistake and said "It's a very nice accent! Really! I like it!"
"Cutie Marks related to names? I suppose that could be correct." He looked at the others, puzzled. "I dont know though... What are your names? I'm Dark Shine." He looked at his flank, dissapointed at what he saw.
Quill seemed slightly offended at the notion that his Cutie Mark might have something to do with his name. "Well, my name," he stated, now taking on a more Canterlotian accent, "Has been passed down from my grandsire to my father, then to me." "Furthermore," he continued, sounding more and more snooty as he went, "my father's Cutie Mark is a pair of crossed quills. Not a well of ink in sight." He glanced around at the other ponies, specifically Silver Shield, who seemed to be glaring at him. He coughed and chuckled nervously, his voice returning to normal. "I...uh, didn't mean to offend anypony..." "I'm sorry..."
Dark Shine looked at the Pony who was just speaking. ' Grandsire'? Who says that. He thought, hoping none could read his mind. He looked at the group, puzzled look on his face.
Snow looked at Quill disapprovingly, she never really liked the Canterlotian accent, "Well when you use a quill, you use ink. It doesn't matter if its acually in the mark itself. Well, my dad's is a rather unique mark, it is an exclamation point. Don't really know why, but his talent is showy-type magic."
Quill shrunk back at Snow's remark, but something about what she said caught his attention. "A exclamation mark... Maybe your Cutie Mark has something to do with punctuation. You know, Question Marks, Periods, Colons, Parenthesis, Commas..." He continued naming off all the punctuation marks he knew of ad infintium.
Jhera continued thinking about his cutie mark, so he didn't notice a white pegasus flying above him until he landed. "Augh!" Jhera yelled. Talon gave a disappointing frown. "You have GOT to stop being so scared." he remarked. Behind him, Jhera saw his mother walk up to their location. "Mother!" he yelled. He was overcome with joy that she was okay. "What happened? Where did you go?" She just smiled sadly at him. "We were summoned to Canterlot to discuss something that has been going on in Fillydelphia. It wasn't anything too important that you had to come all the way here! I got a ticket for the train to go back home, are you prepared to go?" Jhera considered this for a moment, but he turned back to his new found friends. "Well, I just made some new friends, and now we're going to start a project to find our cutie marks together. I can't just leave them now." Her eyes became softer, like she was remembering a childhood memory. "Where will you stay? This is Canterlot, it's too expensive for me to find anywhere for you." She said. He looked down. She was right, there was no way he could stay in Canterlot, unless...He turned to the group. "Hey, would anypony be okay if I could live with them for a while? I promise I won't be too much of a nuisance!"
Snow raised a hoof, "My house has plenty of empty rooms, I'm sure my parents wouldn't mind. But you better get used to Southern-style food if you do."
Jhera grinned. "That would be perfect!" He looked back towards his mother. She sighed and said "If you're truly willing to stay here, I want only one thing. Write to me about your progress at least once a week. Can you do that?" Jhera nodded. From his packs, Fernleaf replied with "FWEEEEE!". Jhera's mother twitched. "You brought Fernleaf!?" She exclaimed as she pulled the foal out of his bags. Jhera said "Well, I couldn't just leave her there!" She smiled at him. "Thanks for caring, but I can take care of it for now. Have fun with your new friends!" She walked towards the train station and said "C'mon, Talon. I have an extra ticket now, you should use it since I can't get a refund." Talon took one last look at Jhera and left without a word. Jhera turned back towards the group. "Well, that's that! I am now officially stuck with you guys! Since I'm going to be living here for a while, could any of you perhaps give me a tour of Canterlot? I want to know what the rest of the city is like!"
Snow shook her head, "Trust me Jhera, Canterlot folk don't take too kindly to newcomers, unless they are uber rich. Just stick with us and blend in."
"If Cutie Marks have to do with name or family what about me?" He began to frown. "I'm the only Pegasi throughout my entire family..."
"Well, I was just saying that it could, not that it had to be." Snow said. "Now come on, we need to think of something. Hey, I brought some money with me, who wants lunch?"
"I'm fine thanks. I have some in my saddle bag" He smiled and pulled out a daisy sandwich. He looked at the time. "My mother would want a letter from the royal guard cadets now saying how I am doing..." He sighed.
"I'm fine, thanks." Jhea said. Conveniently, his stomach grumbled at that very moment. "Actually...," he said. "I suppose I could eat something." He looked around himself. "Where exactly are we supposed to get food? All these buildings are a lot different from where I come from. I can't tell a resturaunt apart from a clothes store!"
