It's the way they looked in the reference. :I I think it's because both wings are overlapping. If I get a positive response on my dA, I'll probably do some more.
Holidays do strange things to me. I get crazy pangs of creativity and urges to do stuff to quell the unsurmountable tides of boredom and monotony that can't be kept at bay by Xbox and food. So, as promised, here's some stuff I did over the christmas break in Madrid. I'd never drawn a pony (or anything else, for that matter) until about a week before I drew the first of the mane 6, and I'm posting them here chronologically in the order they were drawn so you can see how I've improved. Twilight was more of a practice really. I was scrabbling around for a sharpener when I realised that I had all the coloured pencils I needed to have a go at the Mane 6, and Twilight was really more of a test run to see what colours worked and whether I could pull off the whole cast this way. I was still getting the basics right, hence the strange eye shape and flimsy horn, but I was encouraged by the first try to have a go at the rest of the cast. Next up: Applejack. It was a little easier this time as I found some really great profiles that I used as references for her mane and stetson. The mane and tail weren't to difficult but the hat was a solid pain to get right :\ I also managed to crack eyes this time and start my first foray into cutie marks. Rainbow Dash. That meant wings, and more reference images. I was really happy with how she turned out, even though the legs look a bit disjointed. the tail could also use some more definition, especially where it meets the body. I wasn't sure how the wings would interact with the tail, so I just let it sit whereever. I think it turned out okay though. Encouraged by the success of my first pegasus, I pushed on to do Fluttershy next. I was happy with the wings and hair, but again the legs didn't quite work the way I wanted :\ Also the expression on her face seems a bit too... surprised. And alarmed. Rarity next, and I wanted to try something a bit different. Since all the ponies I'd drawn were all very 'cookie-cutter', I wanted to mix things up a bit. I though about changing her pose, but then just went with a different eye design like I'd seen in this wallpaper. I thought the expression fitted Rarity well, and since it was easy to draw I went for it. Also had another stab at horns, and spent AGES getting the hair right. I'm really happy with how she turned out Finally, Pinkie Pie. Having had plenty of time to perfect technique and get the pony shape right, there was no excuse for failure at the last hurdle. I'm most satisfied with Pinkie than any of the others The smile took me a while to get right, but it was worth it to get at least some of her personality into the drawing. And there you go! That was my christmas, drawing ponies all day long I'm really happy with how I've improved, and glad that I could finally get into drawing. It's something I've always wanted to do, but I've never found the time or motivation. Thanks to ponies, I'm gonna try to get myself a tablet and start drawing like the big boys :derpe: That said, any and all critique would be appreciated. YEAH YEAH bumpin' this thread with some art work. Tried a new way of drawing, it takes a little longer but I think it looks better. Also tried new shading. It didn't make me rage this time. This is the creepy evil stare in darkness version.
Yay, new pony pictures, not sure why I'm posting them. No one comes in this thread anyways. There's I little story to go with this picture. Spoiler: The little story I was the greatest, I was the best. It was all fine until Twilight came into the picture. How could she defeat an Ursa minor, when I the Great And Power Trixie could not. Twilights success was like a demon in my head. It sat in the back of my mind taunting me every waking moment. At times I thought I was going crazy. Why couldn't I obtain what Twilight had. It didn't make sense. I was the Greatest Equine that ever lived and she was just a simple unicorn from Ponyville. It was that thought that pushed me to train harder. I went to the deepest part of the Everfree forest, to the highest mountain. I trained day after day, for countless hours. To the point where I could barely stand. After weeks of this, the simplest spells took all my concentration, took every ounce of willpower I had. I wasn't sure how much longer I could sustain such rigorous training. That's when a violent electrical storm consumed the sky. It was fitting. Like this storm was the outward manifestation of my soul. I stood at the peak tempting the storm to strike at me. When the lightning came down it was easy to dodge or deflect. Fighting off this storm was the only way I was getting off this nightmarish mountain. I had everything under control, but then a massive bolt of lightning came barreling out of the heavens. Normally, it would have been a minor annoyance, but because my rigorous training it took all I had and more just to deflect it a little. It stuck the ground next to me and sent me down the side of the mountain. I awoke some time later and I just sat there. Then something snapped, I didn't care about being better then Twilight. I didn't care about being the best, I didn't care about living. I simply didn't care anymore. Thats when it happened. I transformed, I could feel the overwhelming amount of power flowing through me. And now Twilight, I'm coming after you.
*sarcasm* WOW. I'm surprised *Sarcasm*. No one touched this thread. *sarcasm* Well time to post more art. Maybe I should make my own thread, since this thing gets no traffic. Yep, there it is. It was an old drawing I never finished till now. I don't remember the original purpose of the picture.

I look around, and hey, sometimes I even post! But yeah, I don't comment much. Still, nice work you got going there. Nice work on the manes, the look great, but the faces could maybe use some more detail and definition. Other than that, good stuff I might post here again soon, I'll see how schoolwork I have to catch up on.
Thanks. The reason the faces don't have that much detail is because I don't know how to shade faces, I practice, but nothing I like right now. Also more art A gift of Flashwind
