Here's a vector of my second OC, Shadow Trickster!



I just went with a simple but evil color scheme for him. Again, thanks to Bamboo for the name!

 

Bamboo: Wait, I should make the back parts lighter? Like, the parts that would normally be darker on a pony? I could do that, and if you look closely, I actually made the outline for the "shaded" parts a darker gray than the non-shaded parts. Also, I wanted to make his hair anime-like, but it didn't turn out well. Could you put up some examples of styles that you think I could base his on? I want him to look as badass as I can since he's pretty much evil, but not quite. I'd put him somewhere between Trixie and Nightmare Moon on the Evil Scale. Some would argue that that's where Gilda would be, but he's different than her...like, he's definitely malicious, but he only acts like it some of the time. The rest of the time he's cavalier and easygoing. It's not like a split-personality thing, though; it's just a disguise for his intents.

...Ok, I realize all of that should have gone in the OC thread, but I return to the original questions: 1.) Am I supposed to make the farther-back parts lighter than the rest? 2.) Could you put up some examples of anime hairstyles that you think I could base his on?

Thank you so much for the advice and anime hair! I'll apply both of these tomorrow, since it's almost 10 here and I want to get to bed early so I can get up early and change it, since I can't do it in the middle of the day without risking being questioned by my family.

Blu-Cup: That's looking really good! My suggestions: smaller snout, slightly thinner neck in front, bigger ears. Do those right and it'll be perfect! Or you could just do whatever you want; I mean, you're the artist.

 

That's what I post these here for, to get feedback because Celestia knows you can't get anything of the sort from the users of DeviantArt.

I kinda like this hairstyle anyway, since it's basically the opposite of Jett's. Where Jett's spikes curve down and are more neat-ish, Shadow's curve up and are more wild. I may change it later, but for now, I think he looks good enough.

You can see I also made the front parts a dark gray. It's not all that different, but I think it gives a nice enough difference. Of course, comments and criticisms are still accepted either way.

 

Worked on the newest(and hopefully last) update to 'My Little Template' this morning while researching region-free gaming on the Wii, and in that time I fixed the mare's head up a bit and put together a head for colt characters.



The larger template size was inspired by the sprite that Jaret put together in the OC art thread. The larger size will allow me to animate it(to an extent), and no longer will I have to worry about being blamed for plagiarizing the sprites commonly seen as desktop ponies.

If I could get some feedback on what needs to be changed and where, that'd be great.

 

This is my third and final OC, Bullseye Sharpshot.



I don't have much about his personality except that he's Shadow's friend/partner, he's mean, and his special talent is extreme skill at all manner of ranged tools and weapons, although, as you can see, he most often uses a slingshot since it's small, convenient, and effective when used properly- which he always does.

Yeah, it looks like Jett, Shadow, and Bullseye have different body shapes, but that's just from using different sources. They're all supposed to have the same body type as normal males. That's why I'm going to try vectoring without tracing to see if I can start making uniform appearances. Also, I'll finally get to that Batmare drawing now and other stuff with canon characters.

Also, yes, he was designed in the Pony Creator. So sue me.

 

Bamboo: Yeah, I understand how it's better if they all look different; it was just unintentional on my part. Originally my idea for Bullseye was to be more of a dumb subordinate for Shadow , which would have led to him being smaller, but then I realized, like you said, having a good aim would mean having a good brain, and that wouldn't really fit in with the sidekick thing, so I made him more of a partner than a sidekick. And wow, you're good at analyzing characters- and I hardly even made one for Bullseye, but that analysis sounds perfect! I had even made a part in the storyline I made up where he does set a trap that turns out to be perfect for his practice- though not necessarily good in any other sense of the word. Also, yes, Bullseye does use other projectiles too to either practice or if the situation demands it, but since he likes to use Jett as a moving target and doesn't want to kill him or hurt him too bad, he usually slings marbles and other small projectiles at him. It doesn't really anger or hurt Jett too much; if anything it's a stinging annoyance.

I finally managed the ability to draw legs! Now, just the face and hair to own, and then I'll be drawing ponies in no time!

 

Wow, that's looking great, testyal! The legs are a mite small, but that can be overlooked easily enough.

 

Spasibo, Jett. And yeah, I can see the problems with the legs now.

 

Bamboo: Well, now that you mention it, no, they aren't exactly friends. I could go into detail about how they met and why they're not friends, but I'll just give you the fast version: As a young colt, Jett lived in Cloudsdale, but due to a big accident that he unintentionally caused, his parents moved to Trottingham, with him obviously having to go. There he met Shadow and Bullseye, he raced Shadow, Shadow cheated and won, he accused Shadow, Shadow was a jerk about it, and they've been at odds ever since.

 

Bamboo: Yep, but he also isn't exactly a fan of how Shadow likes to troll him too.
