Jett: So he pretty much had no choice but to keep an eye on him, right? I see some weird kind of friendship here... xD
Bamboo: Huh? I can kinda see where you're coming from, but at the same time, I don't. That doesn't make sense, I know, but I often don't.
Jett: Do you know that kind of relationship where a guy saves another an uncountable times, the other guy's grateful yet keeps annoying him the most (without the gay touch)? It's what we could call either rivalry or love-hate relationship. Shadow likes Jett, but is not the kind to be sensitive or sentimental, and Jett helps him without a choice - it's either his help or none. Bullseye probably understand this, and hang with them two (mostly Shadow), and consider them two some sort of friends. While they all are probably fond of each other, they won't really admit it, because they're honest but not as lovey-dovey as Azure or the mane cast.
Bamboo: I guess I may have made some implications that may have thrown you off a little bit- you see, from my point of view at least, the relationship isn't as deep as that, no matter how much I wish it was. I guess I should explain the whole situation. Jett has indeed tried to convince Shadow to stop being such a jerk, and Shadow never listened to him. The cause behind this lies at the reason why he's a jerk in the first place, but that's a story for the OC thread. The only way they really like each other is as a rivalry, which isn't exactly equal since Jett is faster than Shadow. This, of course, leads each of them to be challenged by each other- Shadow needs to find ways to beat Jett(of course, they're not exactly fair), and Jett needs to either stop him from cheating or avoid his tactics. They help each other train what they're good at, and they're thankful to each other for that. That's really the only way they like each other, though- as competitive help. Other than that, Shadow's a jerk, and Jett doesn't appreciate it. As previously mentioned, they could be friends, with Jett helping Shadow stay on the straight and narrow path, but Shadow's been made too stubborn by the experiences he's had(which, again, is for the OC thread). Due to the nature of the competition, the rivalry externally presents itself as being less-than-friendly. Bullseye knows that they appreciate each other's help, but he also knows that Shadow, who's been his best friend for quite some time, isn't exactly friends with Jett beyond the rivalry. To this end, Bullseye helps himself train in the previously mentioned way, while also contributing to Shadow's cause of helping Jett, thus kinda helping all three of them. Jett is annoyed by Bullseye's slingshot pestering, but he sees that it's good practice for himself too, so he appreciates Bullseye's help there, too. Bullseye also isn't as mean to others as Shadow is, since Bullseye really had an average life, except for one dangerous situation that Shadow helped him get out of, which led to their friendship. tl dr; Basically Shadow and Bullseye act the most like friends between the three. The way they and Jett interact ranges from Jett trying to help Shadow to begrudging respect between them to outright meanness. Speaking of that last one, in the storyline of them that I have in my head, there's an Equestria-wide pegasus race that both Shadow and Jett(as well as every other racer- no points for guessing a certain one of them)are determined to win, and Shadow and Bullseye hatch a plan to help Shadow win that really puts Jett in harm's way. They're still subconsciously helping him get better, though, so they help him even when they don't mean too since Shadow's the only one who's supposed to benefit from it, which it looks like from the surface. Thanks a bunch, Bamboo. The first time I formulated the three it was really quite like a cookie cutter- Jett doesn't like Shadow or Bullseye, they don't like him, no friendship(aside from Shadow and Bullseye)whatsoever. But you've really helped me turn it into more of a situation where there's a layer of respect hidden by a coating of a mixture of rivalry and despise with a real, deep motive behind their animosity. So thanks for helping me develop my characters in a completely inappropriate thread for doing so(yeah, it should have been in the OC thread the whole time, but oh well). I'm off to go write down this history in Brony wiki articles that nopony will ever read. It'll also contain history about their pasts that I haven't explained in this thread, so there's that too. If you're interested, I can tell you when they're done and you can give me comments and criticisms- I'm thinking we should move the discussion to the OC thread, though, since that'll be more in the development category, like most of our conversation- did I mention that already? Yeah, I did quite way too many times. Be warned, though- Jett's past does concern a mane character, so if you're not a fan of filling in blanks to canon characters' pasts, you can skip his. Of course, you can probably use your keen deductive work to figure out who it is. APOLOGIES TO ANY ADMINS WHO DON'T APPRECIATE THIS CONVERSATION; IT WAS JUST THE MOST CONVENIENT PLACE SINCE IT'S WHERE THE PICTURES WERE. IF IT'S OVER NOW, WHICH IT KINDA IS, THIS THREAD CAN GO BACK TO IT'S ORIGINAL PURPOSE. (Sorry, Bamboo; I know this place is convenient, I just don't wanna get in trouble)
Jett: Actually, that was what I was going for, except tha they knew each other for a long time and somehow get close without option. It's the "Meh, I know this guy since always. I hate him, but why do I hang with him I have yet to know" thing. I think saying "gay" concerned you. Again: without the gay thing (mainly because I can't work yaoi). From your statement, I can tell it's Dash you're talking about, since she knows pretty much all pegasi colts (except maybe for Azure Crash). Being such a tomboy, she hanged with mostly colts in Flight School at Clydesdale. However, being surprisingly kind (to an extent), she defended Fluttershy, but not being as close they are now. Hm, some more of myself, just to recatch the topic: She's Stellar Sword and Rose Jewel's youngest child, Moon Crystal. She appears (in an earlier design) in my signature below.
That looks pretty good! I can see how her design evolved here. I'm actually almost finished with another picture. I'd finish it now, but my family's waking up now, so it's not a good time for pony work. Also, I wasn't concerned by you using the word "gay"; it's just that, at the time that I wrote the part about misleading you, I didn't really know that you'd end up being more right than I thought at first.
Hey, good stuff so far here^^ I'm justt gonna post some stuff here, instead of the thread I made. So here's a summary of stuff i made^^: View attachment 419 View attachment 420 View attachment 421 View attachment 422 all my drawings can be found on my deviantart: desaster-master.deviantart.com
Took the Rainbow Dash sprite from the piece I posted earlier and animated the wings. Really at a loss how to animate the hair and such to make it look more lively, but I'll figure it out sooner or later.
testyal1: This made you at least 100% cooler xD Blu-Cup: If you animate the hair, it'll look too plastic. Let it the way it is. Jett: No problem. And thanks xD
I said I would do this after my image of Shadow, but I made Bullseye instead, so I have this now. Hmm, I wonder who Batmare really is...
Jett: Nice vector, except for the small detail of the belt - it should behind the wing but on the body. We miss Batfilly, Lunawing, or Robinaloo for that matter.
Bamboo: Thanks! There were two reasons I put the utility belt where it is. 1) It covers up where the black part meets the grey part, and 2) As much as I'd like to put it where you suggested, it'd be difficult for me to mess with the perspective to make it look like it isn't crossing over the leg. If I could do it right, though, it would look better, but sadly, at this stage, I cannot. Also, maybe I'll eventually do those characters! In fact, Robinaloo will probably be my next project.
testyal1: LOL! Jett: Nice. It's hard to work with vecs, right? Alright, something I just did, to get back on top and on topic. BTW, does anypony make cutie marks for fun?
Bamboo: Yeah, vecs can be tricky sometimes, but they definitely get the job done well. I took your advice and managed to make it kinda work. Here: I wanted to post it here first to get a general opinion on how good it is or get recommendations for changes before I change it on DA since the pic has had more activity and positive feedback than my other pics. Also, I favorited and commented on that picture of yours.
Jett: Ooooooh! It worked! 8D That's what I like about vecs, they are always clean, and you can work freely. Yet it's a pain on the neck to join them and such... Now we demand... ROBINALOO! \o/ And again, thanks for the fav. C:
Bamboo: Don't you worry, you can bet that I'll be working at any moment that I can on Robinaloo. I will also be working on finding her a better name. Maybe since a robin is a type of bird, how about Chicken? LAWL ITZ FUNNEH CUZ ITZ OVERUZED!!! But no, I bear no ill will toward Scoots and will not subject her to such a demeaning name. I will try to think of something that rolls off the tongue more, though. Also, it may take a while since I'm going to have to first make the initial vector of her. I'm planning on using the picture of her in her FiM wiki article. I realize that someone has already vectored that exact shot and I could just ask them to use it, but 1) I want it to be a completely original work by me, B) I'll feel better about it in the end, and III) I realize that I used three entirely different ways of numbering here and I couldn't care less. Also, I meant to include this in my first post, but as for making cutie marks for fun, I never thought about doing such a thing, but it does sound like it could be fun.
Bamboo: I ought to try it sometime! In the meantime, I've finished up the initial vector of Scootaloo that I'll be using to make Robinaloo. I'm really happy with the way she turned out. Time to get her suited up!
