I can't say what religion is too me or I'd be lying. I Don't mind religion at all... is just i don't like to talk about religion. One of the few things you shouldn't discuss about but this being a thread dedicated to Religion.
I don't have any Religion group on my shoulder other then the fact that I act like a christian but i was never baptized or converted to anything. I refuse to say Jesus Christ is vain and when i slips out outta a rare mishaps, I apologies to Jesus Christ as in " I'm Sorry for using your name in Vain." I believe there is a god and I do everything right in good deeds and well behavior and help out others then being careless about others. I believe that heaven and hell exist and the fact being that one of my Biggest phobias is being Afraid of Hell and that is the one place i refuse to go too. I'l do anything on whatever it takes to avoid that place at all cost. I don't want to suffer eternal damnation for eternity. I had my share of suffering and i don't need it anymore in Hell. My Goals in life is to live a good person and life, die a happy man, Go to Heaven.

Right now, I'm a free spirit that is free to be whatever i wish to be. This is a new era in my life and i'm going to make the years ahead of me, for the better in hopes to live in happiness and to be a happy old man, one day. :3

To me personally, I'm a... I don't know. Spiritual atheist? I don't believe in a God or any deity. However, on occasion, I will concede that if there is a God/deity, (S)He would watch us like a tv show. No control. But I do believe in a cosmic sense of karma. What goes around comes around. I don't feel like there's anyone or anything in control of dispensing the 'goods' or whatever, but I feel that if you act like a *squee!*ty person, *squee!*ty things will happen to you and you will only have yourself to blame. Sometimes *squee!*ty things happen to good people who haven't done anything wrong. And that's just bad luck. But I feel like if you're a generally good person who has a string of bad luck, something really good will come along to balance it all out.

That's my main view on 'religion' and my opinion of the meaning of life. Balance. You need to balance your own happiness with that of those around you. No one can be truly happy being entirely selfish or never focusing on their happiness. It's healthy to be a little 'selfish' sometimes and do something for you. I believe that religions help people find that balance. And if you can find balance in your life without a religion, yay! Good for you. If your religion helps you find balance, yay! Good for you. Both answers are correct. I never really understood the point of the Atheists who are all "Rawr rawr rawr you're wrong for believing." It's like. Uhm... No? They aren't? Seriously. The popular "What proof do you have that He exists?" argument is stupid. What proof do us Atheists/Agnostics have that He DOESN'T exist, you know?

Anyway, to me, religion is a very specialized thing. I don't see it as there being Christianity, Catholicism, Judaism, Hinduism, etc etc etc. It's such a deeply personal thing, that I feel that as many different people as there are on this earth, that's how many religions we have. It means something different to each individual person.

Well on the note of religion being different for everyone.

All only thing that could be a religion to me would be the emotional spectrum from DC comics. Maybe it's just my obsession with green lantern or emotions, but it could kinda be a religion. It does have enitities, similar to have many gods.

    I don't know, just a thought I had.

Why is non-coincidence incompatible with materialism...?

Non-denominational Pagan here. I dislike many of the established neo-pagan revival religions for the same reason I don't like the Abrahamic ones. There is a big difference between spirituality and religion to me. The two are not to be confused, though it happens more times then not. To me: spirituality is FEELING your way through a path where as religion is a set of established rules that puts a set path before you.

I cannot agree with any religion completely, all have good points and lots to take away but if I study any one religion I'm bound to find things I cannot accept, there for I cannot play by the rules, so I choose not to have a religion and therefore choose to feel my way along my path instead.

I guess this belongs in this thread.

I've been absolutely intrigued by traditional Islamic culture, customs and practices recently. Considering they are burdened with a sometimes negative image, most are formed from ridiculous misconceptions and bias. I'd never convert to Islam, as I believe it's detrimental to try and force yourself to believe something you don't naturally believe in. However, I do have a lot of respect and admiration for it.

Religion as a concept both amuses me and scares me. The fact that people give up a large part of their freedom to this concept in particular.

    inb4 bashing.

    I'm Spagnostic. :D

Or Pastafarian, Whichever you prefer. ALL HAIL HIS NOODLY GOODNESS!

In all seriousness though, I don't have anything against religion, Just about those being insistent about their religion and willing to do crazy stuff for it. Just how I dislike those Atheists who keep bashing religion all the time.

If they are giving up their freedom then they are in the wrong place. God does not ask for your blind obedience nor does he ask you to give up your autonomy. Institutions, megalomaniacs and governments demand it but God does not.

Many people who claim to believe in God do not really. They believe in someone's interpretation of Him. They have not spent the time to seek and find out who He really is. You don't need a Bible or Qur'an or any one or anything to tell you who God is. God shows Himself to those who genuinely want to know who He is.

Believers and atheists alike believe in their hearts that man is either the solution or the problem concerning all the worlds ills. Some take credit for the good God does while others blame Him for the evil man does.

I am what i like to describe as a Wayist, not to be confused with the religious movement of the past with the same name. I believe only what Jesus said concerning God. In my opinion Jesus never wanted to be worshiped. He was God in human form, so that God, being just, would know how it was to be human and could then forgive us for our shortcomings. What God worth His salt wouldn't be able to do that? He willingly gave everything up and lived as we do to prove to us that living a life like He led was possible. God will not ask us to do anything that is impossible.

Anyway, if Jesus said it I believe it and I use it as the standard for truth. I do question and think on the things He said to see if they make sense. I don't blindly accept anything, even from Him.

Jesus said if you see a man with no coat and you have two, give him one. To take it further, and knowing who Jesus was, I can conclude that I am to give the better of the two coats, because what sacrifice is it to give the old ratty one? Love you neighbor as you love yourself are not just words.

It doesn't have to get out of hand if we all agree to only post our beliefs and make no attempt to change the minds of others. Respect what each other believes. It's simple.

I am strange catholic I guess you can say. I will worship God until the ends of the Earth, and yet I believe in things such as the Big Bang, or Evolution. In my personal opinion, when God said "Let there be light." the Big Bang happened. I also believe that evolution was guided by God to end up with us and all the other things that live on this planet. I believe that the chances are just way too slim for us to end up as we are now, Universe and all inside, for it to happen by 'chance'. In my opinion, there had to be a greater force guiding the universe to how it is now. I don't believe in the whole God directly controlling everything, I believe he's the force that guides and pushes us in a certain direction, not directly interfering with our lives. I also believe the Bible should not be followed word for word, it is merely a moral guide. Look at the Ten Commandments: Thou shall love thy neighbor, Thou shalt not kill, etc, etc. Or the teachings of Jesus, he preached love and tolerance even in death. Those are my $0.02.

I agree with you, very wise.

I also believe the creation was guided, not neccesarily by God in my opinion, though it is possible, but at least by a cosmic force, or at least that this was somehow meant to be. I believe in destiny and that the world is divine.

I can't praise people like you enough Snow, you are such a good example for christians, unlike the "unicorns are the antichrist" crowd.

This thread is fine as long as it doesn't delve into an argument. We're removing the necro-post rule anyways.

Just one of these extremly stupid anti-pony reasonings that does not make any sense. Essentially consists that unicorns are from pagan mythology and pagan=Satan, so yeah, do not pay it any mind.

A true christian should embrace MLP FIM, not demonise it.

As long as it's relevant it's fine.
If it's just completely off-topic, then well....

Speaking of such, this is off-topic in itself.
