Same here, I really don't want to debate with anyone, but it is pretty cool just seeing how these discussions fold out.
Your religion is a part of who you are and really you don't need to change it. If someone questions you about it just pay them no mind. It doesn't matter what religion we are all still all the same in every way, religion shouldn't take complete control of your life let ride along with you. To me atheists have a religion too, but it is a method more than a religion. Atheists believe in the scientific method of evolution where animals and people developed over time rather than have a single being or host of beings create both the universe along with mankind. My religion puts me right between these two differing views but non the less it is my religion because that is who I am and if it wasn't then I wouldn't be the person that everypony knows me as. (Alright heres my other one cent)
An Atheist is technically just someone who doesn't believe in any God or Gods. So an Atheist could be religious, or not. And they don't have to believe in evolution either. I think your views are very fascinating, but you seem to be mistaken regarding Atheists. They are not, just as Christians are not, a single group with singular beliefs. The only thing they have in common is a disbelief in any deity. Beyond that, anything goes for an Atheist. I'll go ahead and say so right now: I'm an Atheist by those standards. It doesn't really require a commitment, and it doesn't sum up your belief system. Most of my friends are religious, and we've had quite a few conversations about it. I just believe different things, and that doesn't mean I don't enjoy learning about other people's beliefs and ideas. On the contrary, I find it absorbing and interesting.
@ Dilly Star- ehh I just threw it out there probably not going to post here again seeing as I tend to keep out of religious affairs less mine get called into question which would put me on the spot and well yeah I don't really like talking about my religion unless they might consider joining it or are confused about a single thing. Otherwise I am down and out.
@Danvid- If you want to get into a debate with me start asking me about how we handle those that do not cope to Pantheistic religion, at least in my case, trust me it's not pretty.
All I will say about religion is that it has no place in my personal life. The only thing I believe is that I will find out what happens when people die after I.. well.. die. Humans are curious creatures that try to find answers to everything in life, even death, but I'm not quite like that. I think it's okay that there are some things in this world that we just don't understand, and that we really don't know facts about, even in dealing with death. What happens to us after we die? I don't know, and I will never try to tell you that I know, because I would be lying to you, and to myself just so that I feel less uncomfortable about the subject. I don't think it's worth killing people over their beliefs on the afterlife, yet we see every day that there are so many others out there who obviously do. I have nothing wrong with people having religious beliefs, but I think that they should remain a personal thing, and should not divide up the human race like they have for thousands of years now.
View attachment 1874 I agree with you. I don't think people should go around spouting crap about how their religion is the only way. I hate it when my own people go around saying "IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE IN GEEZIS, YOU'RE GONNA GO TO HELL, AYUCK!" Who knows that? If I recall correctly, Gandhi was not a Christian, but he was one of the biggest advocates for Peace on Earth. I highly doubt that this so-called "God" would damn this man to hell. And by Christianity's logic, no matter what your sins, you go to heaven. So does that mean Hitler is going to heaven?
