Nightshade smiled broadly, doing lazy backflips in the air. "This... this is amazing. I never thought it would be so beautiful."
Raven couldn't help but giggle as she perched herself up on a branch. "Wish I had that good a reaction the first time."
Nightshade paused mid-flip and floated, still upside down, over to Raven. "What was your first time here like?"
"My parents had just died, and suddenly I'm with this couple I don't know being taken to some chaos realm, so kinda scary."
"Now that I know the way, I can come back whenever I want. So..." She closed her eyes, focusing on the waves of chaos energy. After a few seconds, she pointed her hoof at some unseen location in the distance. "...Lord Discord. This way."
Nightshade grinned "I never said he was on the planet, now did I?" Her eyes glowed slightly and the ground began to rumble and crack below her. Slowly, a small cylindrical vessel rose from below. Nightshade looked at it curiously, and shrugged. She had been trying to grab a Hunter-Class gunship, but pulled in an Puddle Jumper instead. "Uh... yeah. Spaceship. Not the one I wanted, but still a cool one."
"Chaos magic. I'm usually pretty limited, but here..." She opened the back hatch of the ship and stepped in. "It's like somepony unkinked a garden hose."
Nightshade's eyes went blank for a moment as she linked with the version of herself that had the information. "It's called a Puddle Jumper, or Gateship. In the world where it comes from, it's used for planetary scouting or as an attack craft. For us, it's our ride to Lord Discord's territory. I can't be exact, but it feels like he's about half a million miles away. Should be about an hour trip in this thing." (We have now reached the Sci-Fi portion of the adventure.)
"Five hundred thousand miles in an hour?" Raven sat down on her flank. "Well, holy crap. You'll have to sit and explain that science some time." (Started out feeling like the car and credit card were out of place, now I'm just like do whatever.)
The hatch closed behind them, and Nightshade began playing with the controls. The ship rose quickly and zipped off in the direction of Discord's house. (Equestrian technology seems to be a mix of steampunk and 1950s tech, but there are also video games, so even canon is confusing on that topic. I figure with all the Mary Sues and god-tiers running around, a few bits of non-canon tech are fine. Especially when they make storytelling easier.)
"Whoa." Raven planted herself so the inertia wouldn't mess with her. "This is different. Something tells me it ain't Equestrian?" (True. Though I was slightly baffled at first when Sabe brought the car up, mostly due to us seeing ponies pulling carriages in the show, I've mostly stopped caring how much sense a thing like a car makes. Plus, non-canon tech aside, this whole planet is non-canon. Came up with it before that episode with Tree Hugger aired. Imagine the slap in the face of my work (mapping out a whole *squee!*ing continent in my mind) I felt when Discord's canon realm turned out completely different.)
"Not even in the same universe." (I get it. Silver was originally written as a knight that fought in Nightmare Moon's army during her rebellion. By the end of Season Four, my OC backstories had so many holes that I just retconned them all.)
"Hot damn, girl, you get around, huh?" (My absolute worst was finishing Maya's appearance the god damn day before Tree Hugger made her debut, mostly because it fit so well I legitimately refused to change it, making it hard, to this very day, to find an artist who doesn't call her Tree Hugger. That episode raped two of my favorite ideas for the price of one. Oh, the woes of roleplayers who try to care about canon. Will we lonely few ever catch a break?)
She shook her head. "Not really, no. It's complicated. Really, really, really complicated." (No. No we will not. Even Nightshade now just kinda looks like a ripoff of Moonlight Raven.)
"I'm sure you'll tell me me all about it one of these days." She repositioned her guitar and started practicing a slower song she hadn't played at the show.
