It was Tez. In her other hand held the arm of girl her age, with silky, black hair. She looked sickly, her red eyes dull.
Rowan seemed extremely unhappy to see them, his eyes narrowing as he took them in. Regardless, he relaxed, his hand dropping from his waist. "Miss Siren. What are you doing here? Another net?"
She looked nervous, her brows furrowed in concern as she glanced back at the girl. "She.. She's sick. I don't know what it is.."
His expression softened momentarily, but he frowned, crossing his arms. "Are there not any siren doctors?" he asked harshly. "I don't believe I'd be much help to your kind."
He would notice a distinct marking below her ear, and she gave a short sigh of pain, her brows furrowed as her eyelids fluttered. Tez kept hold of her arm. "She's not been herself.."
His expression shifted to something grim and he pursed his lips. "You were right to come see me," he said, almost gently. "Follow me."
He began to move through the crowd. If Tez was looking, she would notice that the other elves seemed to give him a wide berth, looking at him suspiciously as he walked.
They entered a laboratory of sorts and Rowan made a beeline for the back, where a short young elf worked, her blonde, frizzy hair going every way around her head. She glanced up when they arrived. "Hey, Rowan," she said distractedly. "What's up?" "I have a new sample for you," he replied grimly. "A live one."
The girl with black hair began to speak, her voice quiet and whispery. "Uae ki? Uara scahal? Ze ula.. Ze ula scharon.." Tez frowned. "She's confused. She doesn't know whats going on and wants help."
Rowan glanced at the girl, a little bit irritated. "Did you bring her here against her will or something?"
Tez looked offended and annoyed at his words. "Goodness. No. She's just never been this far from home. She has no idea what this place is and can't even speak this language." She glared at him, and it would be obvious she cared a great deal about this. "I would be fearful as well."
