He stopped at the door and looked back at her, hesitating. "I'm... I'm really, really glad you're here."
When he left the apartment, he leaned against the wall, exhaling deeply. Idiot. Idiot. His fingers traced the scars on his lower arms absently as he rested his head back. She couldn't know. He'd have to grow up. Coward. Coward. He couldn't let his nerves show anymore. Even if it made him uncomfortable. It wasn't fair to her. Be better. With a new resolve, but a slightly heavier heart, he headed down the hallway, his bag slung over his shoulder.
Tez and Miko didn't notice, as they were facing away from him and the door. Tez was speaking. "..and he's actually really sweet and I like him a lot.."
Tez nodded brightly. "Yeah! He's nice. I can tell he really cares. I care about him a lot, actually. I'm surprised how fast that happened for me. Anyways, I really like staying with him." Miko rolled her eyes playfully. "You have a crush on him."
They both jumped at his voice. Miko laughed aloud, while Tez looked embarrassed. "How long have you been here?"
"Long enough to know that Miko seems to think I'm mean," he said smoothly, approaching them. He offered a hand to Tez, giving Miko a look. "Ready to go?"
Miko glared at him, but said nothing. Tez took his hand warmly and stood. "I'll see you later, Miko!" "See you.."
