Some of his old smugness seemed to return and he kissed the top of her head. “Yeah. I know.”
She rolled her eyes playfully, sighing. "You're lovely."
He flushed, shaking his head. “I’m mean.”
"You're kind to me," she replied. "Well, you are now."
He was quiet for a moment, hesitating. “Yeah. Sorry about that.”
She waved it off. "Don't worry about it. It's alright."
He was quiet, his fingers brushing through her hair. “I do really like you, you know.”
"I know," she said gently. "You show it."
He was quiet, ignoring his pounding heart. "Are you tired?"
"A little," she admitted, "but I haven't been able to see you much today."
"I'll be here when you wake up," he said quietly. "Sleep, Tez. I'll be here."
"But don't you have to leave again tomorrow?"
"I do. But I can stay here tonight," he replied.
"But that's boring.."
"Well, what would you rather do instead?"
"Not sleep. Spend time with you."
"I see. Well, I'm sure that can be arranged."
"You should tell me about yourself. What's your favorite color? Favorite animal?"
"Huh. Favorite color is yellow. Goldish. I really like birds. You?"
"I like green and.. hmm, sharks."
