As he watched, he would see the pixies flying over head. The Alyndars had their hands out towards the center and their Enryli streamed towards the center. A giant sphere formed in the center where the pixies who had been attacked floated in the middle, curled in a fetal position. They seemed to be in a preserved state and the Alyndars carried them away from the Glen, leaving their home behind.
These trees were different from the ones at home. Their branches were darker and more sturdy. The grass below, too, was unfamiliar. The strands were a deep green and they whipped against his ankles as he passed through them. A faint melody would drift by his ears, high and haunting, reminiscent of lilac, wood carvings, and golden eyes.
The song grew louder and louder as he moved deeper into the forest before it would abruptly stop and the world around him was silent. A branch broke behind him.
The gloom of the forest was difficult to look through, but it seemed empty. He would hear leaves rustling, but before he could look, he would feel a thud against his head, knocking him down to the ground. A figure crouched above him, kneeling on the pressure points in his arms and holding a knife to his throat. Her eyes were a harsh brown and her blonde hair was tied back in a severe ponytail. She wore a small cape over the shoulders and her clothes were practical and grey, built for movement.
She pressed the knife deeper into his throat, her eyes cold and full of hatred, but said nothing. There came a rustling from the forest and a young pixie stepped out, his expression stern. He had sharp grey eyes and black hair. His wings were long and jagged, almost like aloe vera leaves. There was a gentleness to his face, but it was concealed by his evident disapproval. "Eden, don't," he said harshly, reaching for her arm. "Come on. Don't."
Sam said nothing, only watching her with wide eyes. "You'd never believe me," he muttered. "Might as well do it."
"You disgust me," she replied, her voice low and rough in her throat. "Filthy human." "Eden, that's enough," the man behind her said, taking her arm gently and pulling her back. "I'll wipe his memories and send him on his way."
"What you did," she growled. "Don't you dare try to claim innocence." "Eden, please," the boy interjected, pulling her back completely and speaking to her in a quiet tone that Sam would barely be able to hear.. "Go back home, okay? I'll take care of this." She glared at Sam with an intense hatred. "Fine," she said eventually, turning back to him. "But don't let him talk. He'll have you in love with him by the end of his first sentence. Don't forget that he's a monster." "How can he make me fall in love with him when I've already got you, huh?" the boy asked quietly. "It'll be alright. Get home." He kissed her forehead and her hands rested on his arms for a moment.
Her expression softened and she squeezed his arm before pulling away, glaring at Sam before heading back into the forest, quickly disappearing into the gloom. "Alright, human," the boy said, turning back to Sam. "Let's get this over with."
"I didn't do it," he said quietly. "I didn't know they read my journal. It was supposed to be private."
