He jumped in surprise, looking down at her before a warm smile broke out across his serious face and he knelt down beside her. "Hey, Siren."
She held a small, blue vial in her hand, offering it to him. Her eyes looked a bit different than when she was out of water, almost as if there was a milky film over the pupils. "Here's the potion. The sharks are out a ways."
He took it from her with warm hands and peered at it before kissing the top of her head. "Thank you. Should I take it now, or...?"
She rested her head on her hand distractedly. "There's two of them. Haai is Miko's, and Karchiaras is mine. Mine is striped."
He gave her a small smile, putting his shirt in his bag and setting it on the dock. He looked at the vial before frowning slightly. He opened it before drinking it slowly, his brow furrowing.
His nose crinkled as he frowned before sitting on the edge of the dock. "How long will it take to work?"
He ran his hands through the water, his brows furrowed. "I hope I'll be able to talk to them. I don't imagine it's much different than when I talk to the fish."
He gave her a small smile before his expression changed and he frowned slightly. Placing his hands flat on the dock, he slipped in next to her inside the water, inhaling sharply. "Cold."
She nodded, pulling him under. He would be able to see clearly, the rocks and seaweed beneath them. In the sea, her silvery tail seemed to shimmer an almost blue color.
He blinked, trying to adjust. He held his breath despite the potion, feeling terrified that he would inhale water and suffocate. His eyes landed on her tail and he gave her a smile, his eyes warm.
She didn't notice, her eyes watching ahead. There would be many differences with her in the water. The tail, the spine along her back, webbed fingers. They all seemed to come back when she was in the water.
