As he approached, he saw Eden and Briar, already there. They were lying on their backs, looking up at the clouds. He said something that made her laugh and the corners of her eyes crinkled with the action.
"Briar's not coming in," Eden said sharply. "He's too conspicuous. But I am. After all, it's not like my wings give me away."
"I don't care," Eden said flatly, sitting up. "It's the only way the Council agreed to let this happen. Are you packed?"
She squinted at him before Briar spoke. "That's all well and good, but we probably won't go in until tomorrow. We'll just walk there for today and sleep. There's a meadow just outside of the Forest Brynleigh. Are you familiar with it?"
"That's where we're going," he said, standing up and offering a hand to Eden. She took it and stood up, her jaw tight. "We'll set up camp and sleep there before tomorrow."
