She led him over to a table and sat down, pulling out some books. "We're going to have to get you some books," she said, sliding one over to him, "but you can use mine for now."
She lifted her hand and a golden glimmer lifted from her palm. She squinted at it, her head tilted. “It’s been a while.”
She rolled her eyes before giving him a familiar smile. "Alright, Sam. For what it's worth, I forgive you."
A pixie flew under the roof, looking larger than the rest of them, wearing red and orange robes that bloomed into a flower at the bottom. She had white hair and sky blue eyes, and she clapped her hands. "Good morning, everyone," she said, landing lightly. "Today, we're going to see your work on lifting objects in Stage Three."
She gave him a small smile, her eyes kind. "Eden?" the Alyndar called, referencing a slate. "Who's your friend?" Eden looked up suddenly. "He's my friend, Alyndar Maple. His name's Sam." She consulted the slate for a moment before writing something in. "Very well. Turn to page 352, everyone."
There were diagrams of large stones being lifted with pixies nearby, their fingers splayed. Eden studied the image, trying to match her fingers to the diagram.
"First," the Alyndar said, turning to an empty table with a stone about the size of a head resting on it, "we will practice last week's lesson. Observe first, and then replicate." She extended her hand, and a beautiful orange Enryli flew from her fingertips, wrapping around the rock and lifting it easily. "Your turn."
