She seemed utterly perplexed, blinking up at him sleepily as she rearranged the sheet. "Why would you ask that?"
"I love you," she said plainly, closing her eyes again. "You're my best friend, so of course I love you, if that answers your question."
"Like how I loved you," she said, opening one eye to look up at him. It wasn't a question. "Before everything happened. You want to know if I love you like I did before the massacre."
"I think... I'll always love you," she began thoughtfully, shutting her eyes again. "I don't think you really just stop loving someone. I don't think that's how it works."
He went back to his desk, working a bit before turning off the lantern and joining her on the couch. Rested his head on the free arm chair, shutting his eyes and quickly drifting off.
Eden opened one eye several hours later, blearily noting his position. She muttered sleepily under her breath before shifting her position, resting her head on his chest and wrapping her arms around his waist.
