"I'd imagine bread gets soggy."
"That's right. Makes it hard."
“Well, I don’t mean to brag, but I’ve been told I make a very dry sandwich.”
She raised her eyebrows. "You do? I'll have to try one sometime."
"No, Tez, it's a joke. I make terrible sandwiches."
"..Then why would you brag about it?"
"It... it was supposed to be a joke. But it wasn't very funny."
She was quiet, thinking. A small smile crossed her face. "Oh."
He frowned, tilting his head in confusion. "What?"
"You were being sarcastic."
"I... I was. Is that bad?"
She shook her head. "I just got the joke."
He chuckled, kissing her cheek. "Idressyl m'ialo, draesling."
She grinned brightly, squeezing his hand. "Idressyl m'ialo!"
He considered her, kissing her forehead. "I gotta learn Siren better."
"Just for me?" she teased.
"Mm. Well, I know fish, and they're a little similar."
"They are?"
"Mm. I could teach you how to talk to sharks, if you'd like."
