She made a small noise of surprise, slightly muffled by her face in his shirt. She tipped her head back to look at him, her gaze steady. "Don't shush me."
Her arms wrapped tentatively around his waist and she rubbed his back slowly. "You should try and sleep, if you can."
"Goodnight, Sam," she replied quietly, humming a melody that would feel warmly familiar to him, her voice sweet and soothing.
It took her a while longer to fall asleep, but eventually she did, her head in the curve of his neck.
