She frowned, flipping ahead some more. We officially gave up the search today. That disgusting halfbreed somehow made it out. Joseph was furious. I only worry about what kind of world Sam will grow up in if our society lets them roam free like this. The idea almost makes me sick.
She flipped through the pictures, a frown on her face before her face went blank. Slowly, she slid the picture over to him. The mother and father were limp, their bodies battered. In the middle of them was the boy, the bag off his head. Tears streamed down his cheeks, mixing with the blood from a large gash on the bridge of his nose. He had disheveled blonde hair and cloudy purple eyes.
Sam's brows furrowed. "I hope he got away okay," he said quietly, his brows furrowed. "I feel like I've seen him before, almost."
She nodded, still looking a little nervous but returning to the book. "It says their last name is... Sy...Syvel?"
