His expression darkened and he stepped forward suddenly. “What the hell do you think you’re doing here?”
Sam stepped back. "I-I had no idea, okay? I was just cleaning out their house. They're gone now, anyways. I just wanted to apologize for things they've done."
He glared at him, his eyes full of hatred. “Apology not accepted. *squee!* off,” he said, turning away. Eden’s eyes narrowed and she stepped forward, putting a hand on his arm. “Wait, hold o-“ He turned around immediately and punched Eden in the side of the head, sending her sprawling.
Sam caught her quickly, his expression turning worried. He looked up at Rowan, his eyes burning with frustration. "What is wrong with you? She didn't do anything to you!"
Eden was dazed, her eyes unfocused. Rowan looked too far gone to feel remorse. His voice was a low growl. “Don’t you dare touch me! Get the hell out of here!”
Sam pulled her close, his brows furrowed. "I was just-" he cut himself off with a huff. "Fine. Fine. We're leaving."
Eden put a hand to her head, trying to focus, her legs unsteady. “Human scum. Your species is an insult to the miracle that is existence,” Rowan said sharply before turning and walking away.
Her eyes seemed duller than usual, and she blinked, trying to clear the fog in her mind. “Mm... I think so. It... it aches.”
She leaned into it, her eyes closing trustfully. The bruises that was beginning to form quickly faded away.
