He considered her, his gaze analytical as he reached out and brushed her jaw lightly. A small, almost shy smile crossed his face and his fingers were gentle, as if she were a delicate thing.
He hesitated one more time, brushing her hair back before he reached up to kiss her neck again. "Okay?"
He took a deep breath, looking down at his chest and pulling on his shirt quickly, trying to keep from waking her up.
He pulled out his trousers as he stood up, feeling his heart pounding quickly. He rearranged the blankets around her, keeping her more comfortable, before leaving the room, closing the door quietly behind him.
He opened the door slowly, his hair still disheveled from the night before. He didn't notice her at first, his coat collar turned up.
