He glared, shaking his head slowly. “Don’t do that for me.
"Can I at least make dinner? It will be a siren meal! Without fish!"
"Does such a thing exist?"
"Yes! For sirens who live on land!"
"That kinda defeats the purpose, though, right? Like, a forest elf who lives in the mountains?"
"Are you suggesting I go back to the ocean?"
"Of course not. I just don't think that there's many fishless meals. That's all."
"On land there are less. It's just different in the water."
"I... see.."
She hesitated. "Or we can just.. do something fun tomorrow?"
He frowned, looking sheepish. "I didn't mean to discourage you."
She shook her head. "Don't worry.."
He frowned, kissing her cheek lightly. "I do have to go, unfortunately. But I'll be back, okay?"
She nodded. "Okay. I'll see you soon."
He hesitated, letting go of her hand before giving her a shy grin. "I love you, you know."
She kissed his cheek. "I love you too."
He gave her a soft smile before turning and heading for the door, rubbing the back of his neck.
She watched him go, her eyes gentle.
He closed the door behind him as he left with a soft click.
She went to the bedroom, going to get ready for the market.
