He cleared his throat, and when he next spoke, it was clear he was trying to act like it wasn’t a big disappointment. “I see. Right. That... that makes sense. No problem.” He stood up, running his hands through his hair before giving her a smile, but there was no life to it. “I’m going to go take a shower, okay?”
He seemed very confused, his brows furrowing sadly. “Tez, I don’t understand. I’m just... I’m gonna go shower, okay?” He went through the door, closing it behind him.
She frowned, going to the door as she fiddled with her bracelet. "Rowan! You're the only one! You'll always be the only one!" She pressed her face against the door. "It was a bad joke and I love yoouuu."
The door was locked and he didn’t reply for a moment. “It’s fine,” he said, sounding falsely cheery. “I’ll be out in a while.”
There was a moment’s pause before the lock turned and he opened the door. His shirt was off and the shower was running behind him as he wiped at his eyes hastily.
She watched him, her brows furrowed before she reached out to him. "My joke wasn't funny. I'm so sorry.. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings." She sounded incredibly guilty and disappointed with herself. "I'm so sorry."
He seemed confused more than upset, pulling away from her. “What are you talking about? It’s fine. I should have known.”
