"It's so great," she said. "I feel like I've been moving through a heating vent this entire time and I finally get out on the other side." She turned to him with a grin, taking his hands and pulling him slightly into the air, her magic lifting him off the ground. "See? Look!"
She tilted her head, letting him down gently, although her hand didn't let go of his, as if he was joking and he would momentarily ask for her to fly him again. "Are you okay?" she asked, looking down at him.
They entered the forest and she still had not said a word. Finally, she cleared her throat, offering his cloak back to him.
She seemed a little embarrassed, hopping on one foot to the other. "I thought maybe... you wouldn't want to anymore. After, you know, the whole flying thing."
She bit her lip, studying him curiously. "Humans are confusing," she announced, sitting on the forest floor expectantly.
She took it with a nod of gratitude, still looking slightly suspicious. “This one time I tasted human food and my throat got really tight,” she informed him as she cut herself off a piece. “I couldn’t breathe very well.”
