“Yeah. Well, she was quiet for so long, and when I got attacked... I don’t know. The wall started to crack a little bit.”
“Yeah. You know,” she said, tapping her temple. “Her. The... I guess you guys would call her a demon. That’s not the right word, but it’s as close as I can get.”
She frowned, squinting thoughtfully. “That’s when she’s most clear. The wall acts as a separation between her and me. It’s to keep my thoughts from being influenced by her. But if she shouts loudly enough, then I can still hear her, wall or no wall. Generally, I’m able to tune her out, but after the attack, she kinda... seized control.”
She sighed, running her hands through his hair. “I don’t think so; the Alyndar put up the wall. I’m pretty sure that’s all that can be done.”
She gave him a quick kiss before standing up unsteadily. “I should probably go to class. I’ve missed a lot.”
