"That's what you always think," he said wryly, kissing her forehead. "That's also what harvesters want you to think. C'mon."
She looked around, her expression becoming nervous. It took her a moment to be able to stand again, getting dressed and pulling on the coat.
He slipped the sweater over his head and pulled her closer, draping one arm over her shoulder and kissing her temple. “Don’t worry, siren. I’m not going to let anything happen to you.”
They neared the Center, and he looked up at the sky. “Tez, if I ask you something, will you promise not to freak out?”
He nodded slowly, glancing down at her for a moment, his gaze gentle. “What do you think about having kids? Not with me, or anything, but just in general.”
He laughed, a low growl in his throat. “Don’t worry, Tez. I’m not asking you to have a baby with me or anything. I’m just curious to hear your opinion.”
He frowned, looking up at the building as they got to the door. “I don’t know. It’s never really been an option for me.”
“The option to have kids,” he said, tilting his head slightly. “It’s not really been possible for me.”
