At first, nothing changed. She was deathly pale, but she slowly shifted into a fetal position, her wings wrapping around her protectively.
There was a moment of silence. Her eyes opened slowly, a familiar and warm gold that first landed on the Alyndar, who cocked her head, her brow raised kindly. "Eden?" She didn't say anything at first, her gaze shifting to Sam for a moment.
Her lower lip trembled and a whimper built up in her throat. Her hands slipped up to cover her face and her shoulder shook with heart-wrenching sobs.
The Alyndar brushed Eden's hair back slowly and Eden curled up tighter, trying, it seemed, to make her self as small as possible. The jar with the red energy began pounding against the glass, demanding to be set free.
She sighed, looking over at it. "I'm not sure. The reason we didn't do this long ago was because Eden's brain was too young back then. Even now, I fear that she's lost a great presence that she may feel lost without."
"We might be able to pull some things from it. Find out what it's been doing in the meantime." She stood up and took the jar, bowing her head. "I'll leave you two alone."
Eden had fallen silent after a little while, her face still buried in her hands. It would be several minutes before she looked at him, saying nothing.
She was quiet before she spoke, her voice raspy from disuse, but it cracked slightly when she spoke. “You’re not even going to look at me?”
