“Yeah,” she said, nodding, her expression one of disgust. “I’m sure you have to encounter that kind of distrust often. I’m sure it’s a really frequent occurrence for you.” She floated for a moment, her feet lifting off the ground. “Good luck with your studies.” She took off, flying into the woods and disappearing.
Rowan walked quickly through the Center, his purple eyes narrowed with thought as he moved through the crowd of people.
Tez was with Mikö, her head cocked as she read her the recent news of what was happening at their home.
He approached Lark, who was dissecting a coral he had brought to her earlier. He spoke to her quietly, reaching into his bag before pulling out a small container. Lark shook her head slowly, eyeing it with a wary eye.
Lark looked down at the box again and Rowan sighed, straightening up. He said something else before turning away and leaving, not even glancing in Tez’s direction.
She stared after Rowan’s back with a frown before turning to Tez. “Hm? Oh... yes. Everything’s fine.”
Lark chuckled but it didn’t seem true. “It’s just... well, inside that box there’s a live specimen. A fish. It’s been living with the infection for a long time and it’s suffered no ill effects.”
“It is. But in order to do a thorough investigation, it needs to be investigated completely, inside and out.”
