“You and I,” she said, and her voice shook for a moment. “Is it over? Because... because I need to know. I deserve to know, I think. If it is, then just tell me. I can handle it.”
She blinked in surprise, leaning up against the wall, still folding her arms defensively. “Of course not. But you... I don’t know. You didn’t visit.”
“Yeah, well, I didn’t think you wanted to see me either.” She shrugged, glancing momentarily at the window before looking back at him. “But I’m here anyway.”
Her frown deepened and her gaze flickered to the floor, chewing on her bottom lip. “I wanted to see you too.”
He watched her, his small smile turning back to a frown as he noticed her uncomfortableness. "But.." He sighed. "I don't know if you'd be happy with me."
