It was a jar with ribbon tied around the top. Supposedly the ribbon was for good luck in siren traditions. Inside looked like plain water.
She cocked her head, her eyes bright. "Just wait until it's dark! And then.. And then flip it upside down!"
"The lid will fall off. I know it will." He paused for a moment. "By the way, are you sleeping at my place again?"
She hesitated, taking the jar from him and flipping it nonchalantly, as if to check herself. "I don't have to."
He slipped his bag over his shoulder and began walking, not looking behind to see if she was following.
