"Darn," she mumbled under her breath.
He glanced back at her. “Excuse me?”
"Nothing."
“Nothing, my ass,” he muttered, heading for the door.
"Exactly!"
A towel flew through the room and hit her face as the bathroom door closed.
She laughed, her eyes bright.
He emerged a few minutes later, slipping a shirt over his torso.
She was lying on the bed, her lips pursed as she played with the towel.
He raised an eyebrow before flopping on the bed. "Lonely?"
"Yep," she said warmly, glancing at him. "You took too long."
"Well, I'm back now, if it's any consolation."
She held up the towel. "It is."
He scooted towards her, looking at her expectantly.
She grinned, kissing the top of his head before starting to dry his hair gently
He immediately relaxed, shifting his head into her lap.
She brushed his hair back, her expression gentle.
He looked up for a moment, his eyes adoring. "I love you, draesling."
She paused, smiling down at him. "I love you too."
His smile was slow, but he closed his eyes again.
