"It's so hard to brave," she said, her voice soft before cracking. "It's so hard to be brave when it's so much easier to be scared."
"I know," he said gently, pulling her into a tight embrace. "I know, siren. But you gotta try for me, okay?"
"Lark told me that..." He swallowed, holding her face in his hands. "She told me that it gets really bad towards the end. I don't want... I don't want you to see that."
She looked him dead in the eye, her silvery ones piercing. "Rowan, I don't care how bad it gets. I don't want you to leave me because of it."
She went into the bedroom, getting him dry clothes before handing them to him. "Change into these. I'll be right back."
