He pulled the blanket up to her chin and slipped out of bed, taking a piece of paper and beginning to write.
Tez awoke the next morning, yawning as she sat up. She looked around for a moment, assuming Rowan had gone to the kitchen earlier.
"Hey, Draesling, I'm sorry, but I can't let you be brave for me. I know you're going to be angry, but I just can't have you watch me die. I'm selfish enough to take action so that you won't be with me as I deteriorate, and that's what I've done. Please don't go looking for me, okay? I love you. You changed my world. Yours, Rowan."
She finished reading, she gently set down the note, covering her mouth as she sat on the edge of the bed, tears brimming in her eyes.
Rowan coughed harshly as he trudged through the snow, wrapping his cloak tightly around himself as the bitter cold froze his eyes shut.
She stood up uneasily, wiping at her eyes. There were small sobs escaping her as she fell to her knees in the middle of the room, pulling her knees to her chest.
Lark administered a shot to Miko, cleaning the wound before putting a bandage over it and giving her a quick kiss.
"Something like that," Lark replied. "I'm happy to declare that our treatment is officially working."
