"Rarer species." He sat down thoughtfully. "Valley fairies, cave sirens, shapeshifters. It's interesting."
"They're actually very neat!" he began, brightening. "They're blind and use echolocation to find their way. They're skin is really pale because they rarely see sunlight, and their fins are less similar fish, and more eel-like."
She tilted her head, resting on her stomach and resting her head on her hand. "That's crazy! Do they have human forms too?"
"They do, but it's not normal. They're missing some minor features humans would have. Belly buttons, nails, things like that."
"So, like, would we see them walking around very often? What do they do if they're exposed to sunlight? Is it hard for them to get around?"
"We rarely ever see any, because their society lives in caves without any sort of technology or magic. As for sunlight, they can stand it, but they get sunburned easily and it the light makes their eyes hurt for a bit." He pursed his lips. "Echolocation makes it easy to get around."
"That's so cool," she said, her eyes bright. "What about valley fairies? What did you learn about them?"
"Most fairies love fruits and forested areas, but there aren't many trees in the valleys so they are smaller and live in underground communities. Unlike cave sirens, they still have light that they use."
"They're aggressive at first, but it's mostly just territorial behavior. They're not all bad once you gain their trust."
"Not these ones. These ones are anything but sinister because they don't have any defense mechanisms."
