Ruh Roh (One on One)

He tensed instantly when she started singing, glancing at her nervously.

 

He walked quietly beside her, his eyes darting nervously to look at her occasionally.

 

He looked down at her.

“What do you mean?”

 

“I always thought it was peaceful.”

 

“They have languages too,” he said after a moment. “You know? They can talk too.”

 

"They share growing tips. Height is a really important thing in Tree Culture."

 

“Yeah. They’re terrible gossips.”

 

“Their language is difficult to understand though. They don’t have a voice. They shift their weight instead.”

 

He looked slightly melancholy.

"Then they die."

 

"It is. But it's the truth of every living thing, you know? Everyone dies."
