He hesitated, looking down before sighing and setting down the oatmeal powder. "I'm going to grab you a chair, okay? Just keep massaging your hand in the water."
He left the room and returned several minutes later without his cloak, revealing a white button-up shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. The top button was undone, revealing the cream scar she had left on his neck. He was holding a chair and he set it down next to her. "Go ahead and sit down. I'll get the bed ready for you."
She gazed at him for a moment, sitting slowly. "I have a feeling I can't convince you to take the bed."
He shook his head slowly, seeming more sad than angry. He screwed the cap back onto the jar of oatmeal, his long fingers working meticulously as he avoided eye contact. "No, Tez. It's alright. I'll take the couch."
"I'll, uh..." He seemed at a loss for what to say, running his fingers through his hair. "I'm going to go get it ready..."
The bedroom was down the hall, and he wasn't in there, but the blanket on the bed was folded back, and her pajamas were folded, waiting patiently for her.
He had fallen asleep in his clothes on the couch with his shoes still on, his head resting on his hand as he breathed slowly. He was relaxed, his blond hair slightly tousled as he slept deeply.
His jaw was resting on the palm of his hand as he supported his head on top of the arm of the couch. He really was fast asleep, his eyes closed, and his brow was relaxed in his sleep, a sight that she had not seen recently. As she watched, he leaned back in the couch with a small sigh, dropping his hand and tilting his head back, his lips parting slightly.
She gazed adoringly, tilting her head before standing up and getting him a blanket, gently putting it over him and kissing his forehead lightly before going and draining the sink, washing out the oatmeal before getting dressed and going to bed.
