He frowned before looking over at Lark. "Can you excuse us, please?" Lark nodded, bowing out of the room. "What are you talking about?"
She crossed her arms uncomfortably, as if unsure if she even had the right to know. "I just.. I saw a lot."
She was shaking slightly, rather nervous. Her voice was muffled by his shirt when she spoke. "I'm sorry all that happened.."
"When you were a child," she began, pulling away and tracing her nose where his scar was. "And then the other children at the school. And the mean people who said you were too quiet." She hesitated for a moment. "Me."
His brow furrowed and he looked down at the ground for a minute. "Our lives have been... very different."
