Ruh Roh (One on One)

"Do you want me to braid your hair?"

 

She laughed, patting her lap.

"Lie down, then."

 

She began to braid his hair, her fingers slipping in his brown locks.

 

She worked quietly, brushing through his hair before her hand cradled his face.

"There. All done."

 

It felt like she had made a bunch of vertical braids, sticking straight up. She looked at him with a cheeky grin.

 

"Seven," she said smoothly, reaching out affectionately and rubbing his head.

 

"You look beautiful."

 

She squinted at him.

 

"None of that."
