Lark pointed at the verb. "And see? We use this for the future tense. So 'tun' makes the verb for the future."
"Yes!" Lark said, clearly pleased. "This'll all get much clearer after some time. It's much more intuitive than you think."
Tez scanned the page before pausing over a word she thought she had heard before. "What does this mean?"
She squinted at it before pausing, looking up at Lark with wide eyes. "I think Rowan asked me to do that."
She hesitated, looking down at the book. "Here. Let me, uh..." Her hand was shaking as she pulled out a piece of paper. She wrote it out and slid the paper over to Avice. "Be'undreli meacartun baltindun. You know most of this. Baltindun, right? That's asking permission," she said, tapping it with her pointer. "Be'undreli, well... maybe you don't know that one, but you know the 'Be' part. It's basically a term of respect or worship. We really only say it with people we're closest with. It implies a bond. And meacartun, well... Cartun means a future joining, so a future joining with 'mea'. Me. This is a phrase in our tongue."
Tez quieted for a moment, obviously experiencing many emotions as she flapped her hands. "I gotta go!"
