Ruh Roh (One on One)

He followed her, and the teenager at the counter looked up from their math book.

"Hi there," she said cheerfully.

 

He draped an arm over her.

"Do you know what you want?"

 

"Mm. Okay. Cup or cone?"

 

He went to the front and bought her a cone quietly, buying mint for himself before coming back to her, bringing her the vanilla.

 

"Of course. You want to go to the park?"

 

He took her hand and paused for a minute before slipping off his coat, offering it to her.

 

"It's cold outside," he told her seriously.

 

"I'm alright. Don't worry."

 

"Sure. You want some of mine?"

 

He switched with her.
