The spirit shrugged, standing up and moving to one of the bookshelves. "Fine then. I suppose I'll just have to read for myself." She studied him thoughtfully, a small smile playing on the corner of her mouth. "I love you too," she said, standing up. "Eat."
The spirit began to leaf through the books. "Almost two years now, hm? That's a long time. You love her very much, it would seem." He paused, tilting his head as he stopped on a page. "Oh, I see. This isn't the first time this has happened to one of you, is it?"
He didn't notice, but paused and laughed slightly. "Oh, and in the forest? That particular spirit was ambitious, it would seem." He looked up from the book. "You didn't have any idea it wasn't her?"
He leafed through the book. "And she's been scared of your relationship progressing ever since then. Huh. We can change that."
"We'll just even the score," he said light-heartedly. "Don't fret, Sam. I'm about to make your life a whole lot better."
Eden came back over to him, setting a mug of tea next to him. "I have to do some teaching today," she said tiredly, resting her head on her hand.
She looked over at him in surprise, her brow furrowed. "I mean... sort of. It's my job, Sam. But I'll come to check up on you." The spirit turned to Sam. "So, talk to me, Sam. What could I change for you?"
"Awfully demanding, aren't we?" she teased, resting her head against his shoulder. "Really? She smells like honeysuckle, Sam, have you noticed?"
