Her blonde hair was in a bun today, although a few strands had come loose and they brushed the nape of her neck as she wrote on the chalkboard. She had also become quieter, and almost impossible to read. She turned to look at the class, setting the chalk down. Her eyes, impossibly sad, brushed over Sam, but quickly moved on. “I’ve set up a protective bubble around us for today, so we can practice without fear of disturbing the temperatures around us. Go ahead and get started.”
He didn't seem to notice her gaze, instead lost in his own thoughts. He felt guilty. He didn't want to look her in the eyes anyways.
A male pixie came up to Eden, speaking to her quickly. She blinked out of her thoughts, turning to look at him as he showed her his hand. There was a pause before she gave him a smile, closing his hand and nodding before replying.
He watched her, unsure how to respond for a moment. When he replied, his voice was slightly monotone. "I know what I'm doing."
She hesitated, dropping her hand. "They're going to test you on this during the next set of Juries," she said quietly.
She fell silent, looking down at him before taking a deep breath and leaving, returning to the chalkboard.
The class had emptied at this point, but Eden was still at the chalkboard. She was no longer erasing, but simply standing there, her back to him.
