Yeah I was not expecting this episode to be as great as it was. It was nice to see the history and background story of the show expanded a little bit. I was half expecting a jar of that jam to appear as Applebloom's cutie mark, but I guess they are either going to put that off for a very long time or they will never get their cutie marks. I'm kinda hoping for the former as one of the Cutie Mark Crusaders getting their Cutie Mark would be great for character development.
It may not be a continuity error. If you listen to what Twilight says in Winter Wrap-Up, "Ponyville was started by Earth Ponies, so for hundreds of years they've never used magic to clean up winter." This doesn't necessary mean that the tradition started in Ponyville. Before Ponyville, ponies have probably been cleaning up winter in the same fashion. The only known area where weather moves "on its own" is the Everfree Forest. So the way I see it is that all of Equestria, excluding the Everfree Forest, weather control is up to the ponies.
The bunny costume. It killed part of me with its adorableness. I too didn't expect this episode to be so good. I'll be honest, the last couple of episodes weren't all that great, so I expected this to be the same. Was worried the show was starting to go down-hill... But this episode more than made up for the last two or three, I think.
What a Great episode and I had tons of fun watching it as well. To be honest, i didn't suspect what to get from this episode. Boy was i wrong. As a History Nut for me, I really enjoyed the History lesson that was given from Granny Smith about the creation of Ponyville. Go back to The Winter Wrap Up Episode, I thought Ponyville was a few hundred years old, as told by Twilight. But finding out Granny Smith being a Settler as a Filly, drove me think for one sec and then excepting for what is given. Me diving in to the story is gonna leave me into a Chaotic mess and won't lead me to finding out more answers, if they make future episodes of the founding of ponyville or Equestria for that matter. Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon drove me nuts of how they picked on Applebloom, on that it made me wanna take them outback and you fill in the blanks. The Zapped Apple plot made me go "Okay? What the hay is going on?" But in the end of the whole episode really gave me a heart warming sensation that i can say this was a Great episode. Left me in a twist and I'm glad it did for what is to come. Love this Episode and More Applejack episodes, Please. :3 BUNNY SUITS, MAN!!!
I like how alot of Granny Smiths actions throughout the episode was wrapped up at the end. The Timber Wolves looked cool and seeing granny younger was neat. I also expected applebloom to get her cutie mark from helping with the jam.
I really enjoyed the episode. Its one of the better ones in my opinion becuase it touches on something a lot of children don't really learn anymore: respect for elders. Sure a lot of what granny was doing seemed embarrassing or random, but once we learn there was a reason for it all, and how important she is, I think we all felt a little guilty with Applebloom for judging her without knowing. I almost shed a grown-up tear at the end of the episode!
I enjoyed this episode a lot. Definitely one of the higher ranking episodes from both seasons for me. I really like the emphasis placed on respecting your elders, the design of the timber wolves was really appealing, and I most enjoyed learning the back story behind how Ponyville came to be. I hope to see more episodes explaining more of the history of Equestria.
I thought this was a pretty good episode. The bunny suit was ungodly cute! Also, the bunny ears were cute too! Without Granny Smith's story, this would be a 8/10. Anyway, this is a 9/10 for me.
I've just watched this, and I liked it. Granny Smith's story of ponyville was interesting. I like how Mr (Filthy) Rich isn't one of those stuck up rich ponies, because he knows that without Granny Smith's jam, he wouldn't be where he is today. Seeing Applebloom in a bunny costume was adorable ^_^, and so was Granny Smith as a filly.
Eh...I am not a fan of Granny Smith....the story of Ponyville starting was decent but the rest did nothing for me
