Said this in the locked thread; Also, derpy sounds slightly different to what I expected... Well, hopefully this will mean she will appear more often. Woo!
What I always thought Derpy would sound like is something like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qG0ZMiJRo10&feature=related I don't think it was that far away from the official voice, kinda. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCZGrDM9Ecc&list=FLIQBcTZvwku9oPmt87rW_PQ&index=2&feature=plpp_video
I simply loved this episode. It is also the first one I've ever had to wait for. I had just caught up toe the previous one 3 days after it aired. Wow that was so good! I called people over at the store to see it but none of them would watch the whole thing with me. I laughed so much and I want to watch it again! Oh wow, I have to wait 6 days for the next one? I've never had to wait before.
This episode was like a slap in the face, but in a good way. It can also be added to the list of episodes to make me shed tears. Rainbow Dash didn't help that any either. I love the Derpy part, she was just so cute and clumsy.
lol Derpy's voice gave me a massive grin on my face that didn't go away until Derpy was long gone.... its that funny ^^ Its also strange that Derpy kind of sounds like a man..
This episode had greatness all over. Great plot, great moral, great humor, great Pinkie, etc. Awesome. Grade: A My thoughts on Derpy's voice: Ecch. Hasbro should just stop with the fanservice and let Derpy be a Where's Waldo character. Tabitha just made her sound too stupid. My gripes: Wow. It's our first AJ episode in 8 months. And she's overshadowed by the bronies for a one-scene wonder. I'd never thought I'd say this, but buck you, bronies. We shouldn't play favorites.
Second. Favorite. Episode. Derpy talking took most of the attention of the viewers. I don't know about you guys but the only thing I keep remembering of this episode is derpy. Ahem, that aside, Applejack's secrecy kept me intrigued for the rest of the episode.
I liked the episode, and honestly people should stop complaining about Derpy, in my opinion, becuase this is one of the few fandoms where the producers actually LISTEN and take in what their fans like even if they lie well outside the target demographic. I thought she was hilarious, and would only get attention from Bronies, NOT the 7- 11 year old girls who the show is supposed to be for. They were probably a lot more interested in AJ anyway. This episode was very fun and I REALLY love the I Love Lucy reference. Fox claims that there are no adult shout outs in this show. This episode proved them wrong once again
What a great episode. First off the Derpy scene was fantastic but I really loved how they played on AJ's pride and guilt. Just a superb episode Two thumbs up
^ That. Completely just looked through this topic for a comment like that one. I don't hate Derpy, and I don't agree with Tabitha making her sound too stupid, but I do think Hasbro should lay low with the fanservicing. It's fun every once in a while, but.... meh. Like I said, I have nothing against the Derpy scene, but just.... idunno. meh. As for the actual episode I thought it was amazing. It had a ton of great moments. Probably going to be one of my favorites for a while!
I don't think Derpy seemed that stupid, just incredibly clumsy. Despite, not Derpy's fault the floor broke just by sitting on it, poor construction if you ask me . As for Applejack, despite the first thing I thought of in the episode being "are you sure you will win?" , it took my most of the episode to figure out why she did what she did for some reason. But in the end that is the only explanation that makes any sense.
I absolutely loved this episode, I was in a bronytv livestream and as soon as Rainbow Dash said Derpy's name, the chat erupted, but then the feed cut out for the whole Derpy scene so we waited till they aired the episode again, and then the chat erupted once more. I didn't overlook the actual episode, though, that was great, the whole episode I was wondering why AJ was being so secretive, up till the point Rainbow Dash tackled her, at that point, I knew what had happened without even needing to hear her say it. And then Pinkie Pie was at her best in that episode, I absolutely love PinkieRage, and the bit with Chimicherry of Cherrychangas was so funny.
I hate to say it, but I agree with this. In my personal opinion, having Derpy talk is just blatant fanservice, the one thing that I fear is going to be the downfall of this fandom one of these days.
We bronies do not have sole posession of being fans of Derpy. My 7 year old niece absolutely loves Derpy. This also gives them another character they can market toys for. (I hope!) The episode itself was great. It involved all the main 6, paid homage to "I Love Lucy", one of the most classic comedy scenes in TV history, and Pinkie got to be Pinkie! I was a bit miffed at Applejack not disclosing information and then saying she wasn't lying. Using semantics to get around 'being honest'. It was like the letter of the law vs. The spirit of the law. Being an Element of Harmony, she should have been more about the Spirit of Honesty. She came around in the end though, guess they just needed the conflict for the ending lesson.
Well technically speaking she didn't lie. Avoiding the truth is more reasonable. She did say she would tell them at breakfast, but then not show up. Clever clever Applejack.
That's what I was talking about with the spirit of being honest. She knew she wasn't going to show up to breakfast, so she knew she was misleading them with that statement. And can't misleading people be construed as dishonesty?
its just another way of challenging there element Rarity thinking of only herself: to counter generosity Pinkie's mental breakdown when she thinks no one likes her party's: to counter laughter Fluttershy going berserk/obsessive over what others think of her: to counter her kindness you can find alot of things that might counter there element if you look close enough
I think she actually did intend on telling people at breakfast, but lost the nerve. I also think them breaking away from their element from time to time is good storytelling, becuase even Celestia and Luna couldn't wield them forever, and Luna was good before turning into Night Mare Moon too. So having them stray a little reinforces that their characters are not archetypes.
I don't imagine the derpy speaking thing is going to be an ongoing trend. We can probably look forward to an episode each season where she's more directly involved but that's about it. Or in other words, don't worry about it.
I just enjoy the show and not think about, if the main 6 behave like what their element is. Why complaining and not enjoying? We should be happy, that they are making great episodes and put effort in it. I hope you get what I meant, because my english isn't perfect. xD
