They could buy them elsewhere if the Apple family refused to sell them any. But it's true that the cider market is the only one they could horn in on. The Apples would still dominate in apples and all other apple products. But still, they had a better process, which the episode ignored in the end because they had no integrity.
I for one, highly enjoyed this episode! Being an Applejack fan, I've been waiting for her to get another episode since Season one, and while 'The Last Roundup' was good, I was disappointed with her attitude in that one. In this, everypony (Except maybe Rainbow Dash, and Apple Bloom, with their quick changes to the Flim Flam Bros. side) acted pretty level-headed, and held themselves pretty well. I did feel that the song dragged on a bit too long, but the first three minutes were good. Not to mention A.J.'s letter. Single most, best moment for her yet.
I enjoyed this episode. The letter to Celestia was one of the best ones ever! I loved the Flim Flam brothers song (I got a classic disney vibe from it), and I liked the flim flam brothers altogether. I've noticed recently that Fluttershy is not as shy as she was, she seems more comfortable talking with her friends. Then again, I guess that happens in real life. The whole flim and flam getting run out of ponyville seemed kind of a deus ex machina, but I guess it follows what the episode was about. All in all, good episode.
Mind = blown! I never knew that till now. In my own headcannon, I like to believe that Bonbon is maybe secretly a voice actress with using different voices in different episodes. For the record, the voice she used in Call Of The Cutie is still my top favorite so far. The Flim Flam brothers song reminded me of the song in the episode of The Simpsons with the monorail. That letter at the end. And some (not anyone here, mind you) think Rainbow Dash is the one that never learns anything.
Not one of my favorites ( not the most original plotline) but I enjoyed the song. I agree, though, that this has been the best letter thus far.
Thanks for posting the video. I haven't had internet for 8 days and I'm losing my mind. Luckily I'm at my sister's house now so I can watch the episode.
I just barely learned the episode came out! Of course, I watched it on YouTube right away. Rainbow Dash's reaction during their song cracked me up. xD
This episode was sooo awesome. I also got the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 song stuck in my head (lol) :3
This episode was amazing. I loved the Flim Flam brothers. >w< My sister and I watched this together and we both fan squealed when Dr Whooves turned the hourglass.
Not sure if anypony else noticed this or not but Flim and Flam exchange names twice during their song. You have to follow it close to tell. The one with the mustache starts off as Flim, changes names the next 2 times the names are spoken and then returns to his origional name at the end.
Flam has the moustache. Using VLC and playing the video at reduced speed , their names are in fact correct. "He's Flim!" is said by Flam offscreen (or rather before the camera pans to him). Flim's mouth doesn't start to move until about 1 frame later when he points and says "He's Flam!" Then when the screen pans to Flam, his mouth will start moving with "We're the world famous Flim Flam brothers". This shot is done intentionally to have the camera focused on the character's themselves when their respective names are mentioned, and not on whose talking.
Dear Applejack: What you SHOULD have learned is not to be gullible enough to trust con artists. Or rather, that technology in and of itself isn't evil, it's just the matter of keeping it from falling in the wrong hands. I'm pretty sure that my faithful student, Twilight Sparkle, would have learned those things had she be in your place. I hope you can mature and become a wiser Pony in the future. Now please don't write to me ever again. Princess Celestia.
