That ep was awesome and horay for the turtle. ...I mean Tortoise. lol I also love that they used classic music for the big race, that made it more awesome!
The beginning of this episode put in highlight what the fans needed : A song and Fluttershy. And then boom! : A song sung by Fluttershy; so epic. Finally RD send a letter for Celestia : happy to see this /)^3^(\ I loved too the fire-rainbowed, pretty awesome. I liked when RainbowDash judging each challengers. That is not my favorite episode but i really think it was a good idea to mix pets and the mane-6.
Okay, two moments of Fridge Brilliance: - Rainbow seems to name the tortoise "Tank". Callback to Suited for Success' song or coincidence? - Rainbow Dash, the element of Loyalty, holds a competition. She judges all the contestants based on various things (speed, coolness, etc. etc.). The final round is a race to see which one can keep up with her. The tortoise had to stop to save her, and they crossed the finish line together. Tank won because he was the only one to stop and help her (although one could argue the others in the race might not have even noticed she was in trouble). So, in a way, when it really got down to it...it was a test of Loyalty. Oh, you sly writers you... ...Also Fluttershy is cutest pony as always. [size=-2]"...yay?"[/size] EDIT: Rewatched the musical sequence. Yes, Derpy is there. Look VERY closely near the VERY end of the song (before Rainbow says the title of the episode )... Also, Fluttershy was even cuter than normal during that musical number for some reason. The FlutterDash shipper within me was squeeing during that whole scene.
Wynona is still my favorite of the mane 6. I love how the butterfly has powers. Also, permafeathers much? I guess they're something stronger than feathers... ? O_O In the chicken coop, at the end of the song...
well, this topic to reply to now: *ahem* well, I'll start from beginning. Fluttershy's enthusiasm and Flutershy Rainbow Dash duet was awesome, my favorite part of episode by far. Fluttershy seems to be cuter and cuter by every episode. Choosing of a pet, well, ok, but Rainbow Dash kinda pushed it too much. Sorry Rainbow Dash fans, but I really really really didn't like her attitude trough most of episode. She was reminding me more on Trixie then herself. When she got hit by that rock in avalanche, she got what she deserved. At least she learned her lesson, and I really hope we won't see that extreme self centered side of her again. (yes, that may be test of loyalty all the time, but I still didn't like her attitude, and way she reacted when Tank came to save her simply crush down loyalty test theory for me). Aftermath: I have to say, from beginning of episode it was kinda obvious that Tank will win somehow, so it was more less straight forward episode. Defiantly highlighter of episode was that song on beginning, and on the end when Rainbow Dash learned her lesson and finally opened her eyes about how she should have been whole time. Also, idk about you but I think we'll see much Rainbow Shy (FlutterDash) ships in near future. not bad episode, but surely not best (for me) .
Yes her attitude was horrible the entire episode, but when she chose Tank I forgot entirely. Rainbow is still best pony and Tank is best pet.
There's plenty of classic Rainbow Dash in this episode, and I think it sums up a lot of things about her character. Even though she comes off as obnoxious, and egotistical, she's nowhere near being unable to understand the importance of true friendship. Sometimes she just needs a little reminder to keep herself in check, and what better way to do that than to have her flank saved by a tortoise? I think RD was a little mean at points too, but that's just part of who she is, and I don't believe she meant to be that way. When your as awesome, and cool as she is, it's hard for you to not expect too much from your potential pet. I started to wonder how many times she was going to say awesome, and cool though. It was turning into Friendship is Witchcraft with the rainbows, and the dashing, and the dash rainbow, raindash dash. Not that it's a bad thing.
- Awesome! We finally got our first song of the season! The song itself was neat (like a conersation set to music ), but not one of my top favorites though. I still enjoyed it though. - Honestly, I never thought she'd end up with the slowest animal. While she's all about speed, the tortoise is the total opposite. - I guess the CMC "trilogy" is broken. Scootaloo was nowhere to be found in this episode. - Did anyone notice that "the buzzard that really buzzes" came back? - Dash broke the fourth wall (I think) with whistling along with Ride Of The Valkyries - Other than that odd lacement of Derpy, there were no other BG ponies in this episode.
Let me point out the awesomeness part of the whole episode. All of the TwiDash I'm seeing! ... Shame Scootaloo wasn't there. :Trollestia: Last but not least, Derpy @ 7:00 in the Chicken Coop. Well I won't argue with whos best pet. Tank is my favorite from here on in. Tank's attempts to impress rainbow dash were just adorable x3 Great episode, great song, great lesson learned.
