I love how Rainbow lampshaded the whole deadly ramp/cliff thing in the middle of Ponyville when she was surprised by the lack of anything dangerous happening there. I'm betting all the crazy stuff happening in this episode ISN'T a common thing, but...well, Ponyville has always been a bit of a "Weirdness Magnet". It was just crazier than usual in this episode for the sake of the plot. EDIT: Also I LOVE that they brought Pinkie Sense back, and justified bringing it back in a way that actually made sense. :3 I loved everypony in this episode--the mane six that is.
Great episode but I still don't see why they'd build a road that leads off of a cliff and open it to the public.
When she was a unicorn, I was like, "OMFG TRIXIE!" then she had wings and I was like, "Luna?" During the final chase, I figured it was more than one. One thing odd for me: I always assumed Applejack and Rainbow Dash were equals in strength (Iron Pony Competition).
At first I thought Applejack, or maybe Pinkie, but I figured out it was all of them pretty quickly. The unicorn moment completely sealed it for me (because that was Twi's magic aura colour) and I called Fluttershy showing up and flying around just before it happened. This makes up for my missing Rarity and Applejack's switch in the Sisterhooves episode completely. XD
To be honest when Twilight said the mysterious mare-do-well must've studied for a long time and rarity said she had style, I'm quite suprised I didn't realise it was the other 5.
I'm going to be honest here, but when I first saw that magic aura around her horn, the first pony that popped into my mind was Trixie. I thought she decided to get "stronger" or more boastful, so she decided to help out everyone in Ponyville for a change, and by doing so made the others look silly for not being there to rescue the ones in need. And she also wanted to keep her identity a secret. But after taking a closer look, that idea flew away and then I realized it had to be Twilight. The color of her magical aura gave it away, which disappointed me how Trixie hasn't been mentioned since her only episode. Although, I did notice that Fluttershy wasn't being so shy when it came to the rescues. :derpe: All in all, quite an excellent episode! :3
I'm not going to lie, I wasn't completely fond of the episode. Rainbow Dash's gloating was a bit too much and it didn't have the typical humour in most episodes that I tend to look forward to.
Not the the best, not the worst. I just didn't like it THAT much. I did love the whole masked hero thing though..
I love arrogant speedsters. Is that just me? And at least, unlike Trixie, 1) she actually did the things she was boasting about and 2) she apologized when she realized how she had been acting.
While I do love a good Rainbow episode, was I the only one who thought that the mane cast were being a bit over the top in "teaching her a lesson" here? If they'd have actually sat her down and said "You're being a jerk, cut it out", she'd probably have listened to them. Knowing how easily upset RD gets when her life's purpose is called into question (and she's hardly the only one.... Fluttershy, Rarity and Pinkie Pie have all had similar meltdowns), it seems unusually mean-spirited of them to go as far as inventing a superhero identity just to show her up. That said, I guess it wouldn't have made for much of an episode...
I don't think she would have. She could easily say, "But I'm helping ponies; besides, they all love me," and it's true. The fact that she really is near the top when it comes to speed and strength makes it difficult to talk theory with her.
I thought this episode was a little better than average because I didn't laugh, but it was entertaining. I knew it was the other five at the dam moment, but I was thinking that Rarity or Applejack was the Mare do well before then. Obsession is Magic pointed out that this moral is like the one from Episode 6 of season 1. It was more or less about how you can be proud, but just don't brag about it. I do have a few minors problems with this episode. The first problem is when Rainbow Dash said that there is a problem with the baby. I know she was trying to be funny, but I would be pissed if the only problem was that she didn't cheer for Rainbow Dash. Don't scare somepony like that. Another small problem was how she carelessly threw the baby. I know the mother was right there, but didn't anyone feel shocked and fearful seeing a baby thrown in that manner. The third problem was Scootaloo thinking that the Mare do Well was awesome. Scootaloo, the same pony who thinks that Rainbow Dash is the coolest, most awesome pony ever! I know that the writers were trying to show that EVEN Scootaloo thought that the Mare Do well was awesome, but I found it a bit too hard to accept. I would've liked the episode to be able about Rainbow Dash getting ponies who want to hang out with her because of her saving a pony(s). Rainbow Dash thinking that these ponies are her friends. Then the Mare do Well showing up, and the ponies wanting to be friends with her. The only ponies that stay her friends are all of her friends before saving the pony. The moral would be that friends like you for who you are, not for how popular you are. I know that many people want it to be Luna, Trixie or Derpy, but we need to think about it in a rational manner. Derpy wouldn't be the Mare do well because she is a background character. Luna wouldn't be it because it would feel out of place(I know that this is an emotion, but I don't know how to explain it any other way) . Not only that, but it was shown that all her friends had a problem with the way she acted. Trixie couldn't be the Mare do well because she would boast about it, and it would the rise question of why she was even there. Since she didn't learn any lesson from episode six. Plus, the best way to use her would be having a whole episode focus on her. I'm sorry if I'm coming off as mean, but those type of twist feel at bit too far in the left field.
Wonderful episode. Rainbow Dash's self-centered attitude seemed slightly over done. The Fan Club scene was hilarious. When I saw the scene where most of the Mane 6 were talking about how awesome the Mare Do Well was, I instantly suspected them, and I predicted the chase scene almost perfectly. I was sitting in a room of 5-7 others when somebody loudly observed this. We laughed about for the rest of the day.
I don't get why people are always calling this episode terrible, and saying it's the worst episode ever and all that stuff. It's a great episode. Yeah the ending is kinda messed up because they didn't even try to just talk to Rainbow before resorting to public humiliation, but that doesn't mean the whole episode was terrible. People who judge the quality of the whole episode just by the ending are retarded and spoiled, because they're too stuck up to just sit back and enjoy the ride. It's not my favorite episode, but it's up there.
